Quote: You're allowing yourself to get hosed. Please Please. read section D in the FSM on RSV rules. All these things that you have described are avoidable if you know the rules and don't allow them to send you down the river. CS will push you and take advantage of your ignorance.

sorry if that sounded harsh.

Quote: Not at JB yet...but wondering if anyone can answer a few questions that apply to newhires.

Do you ever have to answer your phone on your days off? Do they have Junior Manning? What's the average days off per month for someone on reserve?

Someone made a comment here about zero time newhires in the spring. Is JB creating an ab-initio (zero to hero) program? Or was that just sarcasm that I missed?

Thanks
S
The ONLY time you have to be contactable at JB is when you are on a short call or long call reserve period. If you're on Short Call and they call you for a trip then you can leave your phone at home when you go fly.

Even when you're on SCL or LCR you can let the call go to voicemail, see what the message says, and call them back within 15mins.

12 or 13 days off per month on RSV (depends on 30 or 31 day bid period. Occasionally in slower months they will give you 1-2 extra paid days off called PRL days.

JetBlue is creating a program that takes Zero time applicants and gets them to JB in a 3 year long course. We don't have many details yet, but it will be starting spring 2016.

Ab-initial to start in the spring. If it actually happens, many think it's a company negotiating tactic. Eitherway, zero time new hires wouldn't get on property until 2020 at the earliest.

Minimum days off are 12-13, which can end up being 15-17 during the slow months and just the standard 12-13 during the busy months. We do have junior manning and its 190% @ a 5hr min. Junior manning, only really happens if they cannot get you back to base on your last day.

I know, dumb question but I gotta ask it. I'm prior military working at a regional with just over 2500 hours now. I haven't been called yet, so what am I missing? Anyone have any little bits of advice?

Parking garage pass in Chelsea, or they will pay for a parking tag at a Logan Express bus location

Thanks, I'll definitely register but I went last year. Wasn't sure if it actually helps.

Line holder ?'s
in the event I get a move-up line for Nov or a hard line for Dec, I wanted to throw out a few questions.
I know as a reservist we can use "bad day, worse day" to move a reserve day even if it is in the red. Can you do the same thing with a line/trip?
If you had a trip where the grid is in the black, I know you can't drop it; what about moving it?

Basically, the only reason I would bid a move-up line or hard line is to have more days at home and still have flexibility. I don't care about picking up more trips. As a reservist I like the ability to move reserve days around easily (grid permitting of course).
