As long as you can go from Al-Qaeda training camp to cockpit in 4 weeks, you should go through security. If you are in a position where you don't need a weapon to do damage, all the screening in the world isn't going to help.

That is the whole common sense argument in two sentences.

Quote: KCM has nothing to do with flight deck access. It doesn't make that issue any safer... It really has more to do with making our jobs easier. I bet if AFA lobbied for KCM instead of ALPA and the FAs got KCM instead of pilots, you'd all be saying "me too" as well.
KCM came into existence because there is a clear obvious reason why it should exist for pilots.

This reason does not exist for flight attendants.

Quote: I've always done my best to protect my pilots and was always vigilant while working as "A" while you guys were deep into your pre-flight stuff and a bit on the vulnerable side.
Thank you? I think. From what are you protecting us exactly? We are vulnerable? To what? The gate agent or ramper who appears with their walkie-talkie so loud my ears ring? Or other flight attendants who barge in and blurt out random statements right in the middle of our checklists?

Most will tell you we welcome little johnnie who wrestles away from mommies grasp to come up and say hello, or the older gentleman who used to be a WWII pilot who wanted to say "boy, instruments have changed since I've been in the cockpit".

If a hostile takeover at the gate by a pack of trained al-Qaeda militant Islamists with wheels chocked and engines off, then ok. But how do you propose to do that?

Sorry, if I have to spell it out to you, NOT violating any safety stuff that shouldn't be discussed on a forum....maybe someone else can. BTW, maybe you guys should be glad the TSA braintrust decided to NOT lift the ban on "small" knives after all.

I know what is sensitive and what is not, thank you. I'll be the first to point that out as well.

You sound a little the "alarmist" type don't you? I'll be honest, I don't like FA's who stand in front of the doorway blocking curious passengers during boarding or deplaning - most a salutation or comment - or as I mentioned before, a short visit. Most pilots I know welcome that.

Who should we be worried about "stabbing us in the back" whilst leaned over programming the computers? The FA's or the public?

I think I know most pilots' answer.

Why don't you enlighten me with this clear obvious reason.

Ok, Analogy time!

It's like patting down the surgeon for razor blades before he enters the operating room for surgery.

Good luck.....I already know the answer as he and several other posters have regurgitated the same diarrhea every time this topic comes up. I'm done engaging with those who are either ignorant, immature, THINK they're slick or all 3.

BTW nice to meet you on here, Jaded!

Lighten up kitten, facts are facts. Not screening pilots does not increase the chance of a hostile takeover of the aircraft - because the pilot already has control - nothing to take over. Same can not be said for flight attendants.
Now, how's that coffee coming?
