Quote: I have a 17 Feb indoc date and a low ssn. I'm assuming NYC and probably M88. How long would I sit reserve or not be in a position to commute if I stuck with NYC?
See post immediately above yours.

Commute - if you don't live where you fly out of, you're stuck there until you move.

Quote: ER = more challenging training and being on reserve a long time.
737 = standard training course plus depending upon base (NYC) holding a line could come relative quickly.
Could you elaborate on "more challenging" and "standard" training courses? Thanks!

I think they're all in the same ballpark, but he probably does have a point to some degree.

The "ER" program is longer and arguably has more to learn. Not only 75-76 differences, but a million variants of each and a wildcard variety of FMS's and minor differences sprinkled around. Plus the international theatre ops, visa/second passport hassles and all that. Its not 10 times harder by any means. Its probably not 1.1 times harder. But it is more to do, takes longer and will arguably require more studying.

Interesting as I have seen recent class drops where the M88 was the #1 pick.
