I don't know about golden. Sometimes you just wonder why you can't get a call at all. I have just under 5000 tt (within 50 hrs), 1600 121 jet, 3300 pic (mostly piston, but a couple hundred turboprop), prior 135 single pilot, BS in engineering, but only know one guy at B6, and only flew with him once, and he doesn't remember it. I think an internal rec works better to making someone golden. I've had an app in for years.

This has already been said a few times here but I will say it again. Just like everyone has always said it's all about who you know. I had an app in for years before I met a guy that got my app pulled. I also know a few guys who are under the competitive mins that are in phase II here. They went to the job fairs and bugged JetBlue until they got an interview.

On a side note, I've never been a fan of these job fairs in general. I think they're really expensive and most going are regional FO's who can barely afford it in the first place. But $150 is a small price to pay to get an interview here. So if you don't know someone who knows someone, hit up the fairs.

Here is a question;

In their job description before you hit 'apply' it says, in bold:

"*JetBlue will only consider PIC time when the Pilot has signed for the aircraft. Please use only this time when completing the areas of the application asking for PIC time to be entered."

During the app itself they ask for a specific PIC number. I have just over 1000 hrs PIC but its all in general aviation part 91/flight instructing....

Does this mean only 121 PIC time is PIC, no 91 stuff? In my limited experience I've only seen 121 operations 'sign for the aircraft'.

Im confused.....

Also. To those who have finished the app; Im waiting to recieve various letters of recommendation and I'm afraid the app window will close before I receive them.

Ive read the thread, but I'm still unsure if once you submit the app, you can still modify and attach things to the "10 supporting documents" section....

What they are trying to get at is some pilots in 121 think that if they have a type rating and are sole manipulators of the controls that is pic. This may be true in a legal sense but it doesn't represent the person who was ultimately responsible ie; the captain. That is the reason for this statement. I believe you can apply the same logic to part 91 instructing. Assuming you had a medical and were current and qualified in the aircraft, all time giving instruction YOU are the pic. you are ultimately responsible for the aircraft, not the student learning something new.

Did I say that? Its not a req at B6. Its a crock to req one anyway- mine taught me nothing about aviation. But as I already said-its great to have one

At Vets in Blue they very specifically stated a 4-year degree was highly desirable, in fact the person speaking almost made it sound like one of those pass/fail questions.

Her reasons:
1. Shows an ability to learn.
2. Shows you can begin and complete something.

Not my words, no killing the messenger.
