Still not enough.

In case you haven't noticed, lack of unity has been the downfall of the Regional industry time and time again.

This entire forum needs to be overcome with a wave of unity from all the Regional pilot groups. It's the only way we will all win and stop the race to the bottom.

PSA can go to hell. Nobody wants to play nice with them anymore. The rest of us need to come together. Eagle, Republic, ExpressJet, SkyWest, Compass....we need to unite.

How many lifers are at expressjet? How many lifers are at skywest? Its got to be up there, they would vote yes no matter the cost. I don't imagine there are all that many lifers at eagle as long as they know the they will flow. I would expect a no vote at eagle over the others, if eagle votes yes there is no reason to even flight it anymore the dominoes will fall.

When this last proposal came out to the pilots, I wasn't one bit surprised at all. I've been trying to tell guys when flying, not to expect anything good this time around. MGMT put it out there to see if it would stick, and IT WON'T!! We as pilots need to stand strong here. I've been saying this for a while and as much as some guys don't want to believe that there is a pilot shortage, there is definitely one at the regional level. MGMT knows that, and that is why they are trying to shove these sub par, long term contracts down our throat! MGMT knows that pilots at the regional level are going to become few and far between and will have to raise the bar in order to attract pilots to work there. I did not get into this business to sell myself out along with everyone else. We can make this job a career again if we can get away from the short sighted, shiny jet syndrome. Our time will come! Vote No!!!!! Don't sell each other out!

While I agree with your post, I don't think the lifers are to blame. Each group of a seniority list has an interest in agreeing to these types of concessions. The lifers want security, the junior captains become senior, the FOs become captains, and the new hires hold lines.

The root of the problem is the lack of sacrificing for the greater good. People only seem to care about themselves.

Unfortunately, up till today the regional industry has been a self serving industry. For once the regional pilot group in general has a shot to fight back with big numbers.

One thing to think about tho, why have regionals been a stepping stone to majors until now? What made them a stepping stone?

When I read posts about making conditions good enough at regionals to make it a career job, are we honestly trying to improve conditions up to a level where most can stay the rest of our working days at regional X, or we just want to push up the envelope as high as we can so conditions are as best as we can (read good enough to stay till retirement) but still bail out after we get the magical 1000 PIC jet?

I despise filthy CEOs who get rich off of regional pilots' cheap labor, as well as hipocritical unions who play both sides, major airline and the regional airline that feeds them.

I just wonder where the thin line lays...

It's been time to say FU to management for a while.

The problem with the Eagle proposal is junior CAs don't become senior and FOs don't become CAs. It will just be a slow bleed down to 107 aircraft from the current total, the only upside is for the career guys hoping to keep Eagle on life support til they can punch out and retire.

The point of raising pay and compensation at the regional level should be to increase costs for the majors and give them incentive to give the mainline some of the regional feed (90 seaters?). If we keep taking pay cuts they will have no reason to even consider it.
