The burning debris Mike McKay sees is the result of the collision, BUT the flames seen are the smaller plane/drone/falling star whatever.
Flight MH370's 777 is a big plane, nicely stable in the air and it's wide body giving it great stability (flight MH370 does not go down). The cockpit area is damaged in the strike, windows implode, all electronics destroyed, responders go off as per switching off theory, but only because part of the cockpit area or where the switching is located is destroyed!
Pilots are dead, explosive decompression dominos throughout the plane, maybe some oxygen masks drop and some passengers still remain conscious. The cockpit area is destroyed, no chance of recovery.....BUT, one of the three slave computer systems, located in the rear of the plane takes over autopilot, the plane was bumped from it's flight path due to the impact, but after the slave computer came online it stabilized the plane(hence the direction change). The status is now a new heading assumed correct by the new computers autopilot, the autopilot oversees maintenance of all flight speeds, heights etc. nobody from within the plane crew or passengers if conscious are able to do anything, the plane now has no cockpit or even lost 5 meters of it's front section. Violent wind blasts through the plane and may cause significant speed loss! The plane fly's under the autopilot which goes another 500 km in one direction, over the Andaman Sea, then adjusts course according to degree of course change preset for a location beacon approximately near Hong Kong (but the plane is over Andaman Sea), this preset adjustment sends the plane deep into the Indian Ocean at altitude until it runs out of fuel. Or, the direction change takes it north into the second tracking zone assumed now by the satellite responders.
There are lots of reasons why most of this is not plausible.

1. There would be another missing aircraft involved. No one else is missing.
2. Under radar control and equipped with TCAS, a collision on a high altitude air route is nearly impossible (DHL accident notwithstanding)
3. Drones (no such thing as they are all piloted, albeit remotely) are transponder equipped for collision avoidance.
4. Merging primary and/or secondary targets would have been seen on radar requiring a traffic advisory.

If there were 5 meters of aircraft missing in the front, there would be no autopilot module. I am not sure what you are referencing in three slave units either. Also if the structure were compromised that badly I have my doubts it would still fly for 500+ km without breaking apart.

I think he's referencing the CDU's and everything else that comprise the flight management system, although he's talking about equipment in the back, that should all be up front. All of which would be rendered inop by such a collision. And yes that aircraft shouldn't be capable of controlled flight regardless

Does anyone else think that we need to be watching our borders very closely now and having Fighter CAP's along the coasts? If this aircraft did not crash and has fallen into the hands of terrorists it just became the biggest long range bomb terrorists have ever gotten their hands on.

No, just because the TSA strip searches grandma does not mean that she's capable of bombing an airliner. SHES NOT!

This airplane is at the bottom of the ocean somewhere, period.

It's early evening here in Asia and another press conference is underway at KL. They are investigating every person on board, crew and passengers. The number of countries involved is now up to 25. Police have been to the pilot's house to interview everyone. They confirm that the captain and FO did not ask to fly together. They are appealing for more surveillance aircraft, talking with the countries in the path of the northern and southern corridors. They are not concentrating on any particular group of passengers. Some of the questions from the media are very pointed and making these guys sweat and seem uncomfortable. The guy in the military uniform looks like he wished he'd called in sick instead. No hazardous cargo. This is a huge area that needs to be searched. Thank you to all countries helping by providing the assets necessary for a search.

They're still going on and on, but I need to get some dinner.
