Quote: How long to hold JFK on the 747 as FO? As CA? 2.25/18 years

What's the upgrade time on the 747? 3.5 years (ANC)

Does the company pay for parking at your base? Yes but not your gateway airport

What class tickets are the positive space gateway tickets? Coach

When does your per diem start and end, at the beginning and end of Gateway travel or arriving or departing from base? Base. Time spent in gateway travel is essentially unpaid, and it can add up to several days per month for most.
The above is correct.

However, there is also non-Gateway/non-Base travel. If your trip does not start or end in your base, you will be flown from your Gateway (or some other location...called Alternate Travel) to/from the location where the trip starts/ends. Your perdiem will then start/end in your Gateway (or other location, if it is Alternate Travel).

Quote: can someone explain domicile vs gateway vs base at atlas or are some of them used interchangeably?
gateway is the airport that you normally fly in/out of to start your trips. There is alternate travel, where you can be flown in/out of a location that is not your gateway.
Base is like a normal delta base, except that some trips do not start/end in your base.
If you live in base, then you would make your own way to any trips that started/ended in your base.
You can also drive and get paid mileage to/from your trip starting/ending location, which could be your base.
A trip example: I am based in chicago. My last trip was scheduled to start in baltimore, and end in pae.

i’m trying to figure out what travel is really provided by the company to where and what has imputed taxes on it.
you are supposed to be imputed on airline travel and hotels if you are gateway travel (between gateway and base).
If you are not gateway, as in an alternate travel location to start/end your trip, or between your gateway and a location other than your base to start/end your trip, then there is no imputed income.

other than the amount of time it takes (and i understand is unpaid and not a scheduled day) does it matter which gateway or base or whatever you are assigned to? Just for argument say i live in okc.
some bases, like anchorage and cincinnati, your trips almost always start and end in your base. Others, like jfk and ord, often do not start/end in your base.
If you live in cvg, and do 767 domestic only, you can be home a lot.
If you live in anc/mia, you will be home a lot between trips.

how much vacation is earned for x number of years?
2 weeks to start and 3 weeks after 5 years. 3 weeks is max.

i have been searching, but atlas is spread between cargo and charter and all of it is filled with rants from both sides.

And yes, i do have my app in at omni and kalitta.

What is the flying like on the 767?

I heard that you are constantly bouncing to and from your domicile with overnights in domicile during your 17 days. Is this true?

Is there any control an applicant has over if they are assigned the 747 or the 767?

I would love to do this kind of flying (yes Im aware of the contract issues but where I am now isnt working out anymore and I am looking for long term).

Thanks for the information.

The only control you have at Atlas is when you get sick.

Allegiant is hiring.

Ever considered following your own advise ? It would go long ways towards building your credibility, which right now, seems to be near zero. At least as it pertains to career counseling.

So, is there anyone here who isn't being a bitter jackass who would like to help a fellow pilot out?

The majority of the 767 flying is like FedEx or UPS but at a fraction of the pay. You may get crew rest at your base or it may be at an outstation.

You can tell them which airframe you'd like but they'll put you where they want you.

Regarding being assigned to the 47 or 67.... you don't get to choose but some factors do play in. After the interviews are concluded for the day, the interview panels will convene to discus the candidates and decide who's getting an offer and who isn't. Each candidate will also be discussed regarding which aircraft that will be offered. For instance, if you have some large corporate jet/international time and do well on the tech portion of the interview, you can certainly be assigned to 747 or 767. If you're a bit fresh to jets and international operations and you're not so great on tech, 767 is probably coming your way. Oh course back in the day, people who were in the latter group wouldn't even get an interview at Atlas let alone a 767 school but I digress.

Also, these people aren't stupid. They can see if you live in one of their bases and how that effects people's choices so it can play in a small bit as well I think. My understanding is that none of this is hard/fast but it's a basic rundown of how it works. Hope it helps.
