Question for those that have recently gone thru or are in Envoy training.

I interviewed with them last week, and have a CJO, just waiting on background to start.

Background is:
53yrs old
Will be commuting in from Phx.
Prior 121 (if that matters for this question?)

DFW is my first choice to get due to the commute so I'm hoping to try to get the 175 in DFW as a first choice, the 145 in DFW as a 2nd.

Here are my questions,

1. Im seeing a lot about QOL issues with Envoy on this forum, namely Envoy trying to get the schedules under control. A few mentions of only 2 days a week off, is Envoy running 5 day trips now? or is 4 day trips the norm?

2. What has the trend been in class on domicile and equipment assignments? i.e....how many 175's and 145's in DFW has been offered lately? Any mention of those slowing or increasing the slots for these?

3. At 53 where would I place seniority wise in class, I was told a couple of months ago it would be near or at top? But things change and for those recent newhires what has been the top end for age in classes lately.

4. Lastly, for those commuting already, with my situation would a commute from PHX to DFW combined with the current schedules be a nightmare? In other words getting home 1-2 days a week to do laundry? I do know initially that reserve is a nightmare, but once I push through that how is QOL for a guy commuting to/from PHX-DFW?

Thanks guys for the feedback, A lot of questions I know so any and all input is appreciated.

There are some 4 day trips that have only 2 days off before starting another 4 day. Fortunately, this seems to be improving. However, it is improving at a snails pace, bit by bit. There seems to be slightly less 4 on 2 off stretches every month, but it's very slow going.

2. What has the trend been in class on domicile and equipment assignments? i.e....how many 175's and 145's in DFW has been offered lately? Any mention of those slowing or increasing the slots for these? 10-12 175 slots as of late. We've only got a few more airplane deliveries scheduled as of right now, so hiring into it will stop by summer the last I heard. We've had no new hires go into the 145 in DFW. They've all gone to ORD and LGA. BUT...we've had around 80ish I believe get awarded DFW while still in training on the last couple of vacancy bids.

3. At 53 where would I place seniority wise in class, I was told a couple of months ago it would be near or at top? But things change and for those recent newhires what has been the top end for age in classes lately. Obviously every class is different, but you should be pretty darn close to the top.

4. Lastly, for those commuting already, with my situation would a commute from PHX to DFW combined with the current schedules be a nightmare? There's no getting around it, commuting sucks. Good news is there are many flights from PHX to DFW. And there's no telling what things will be looking like around here by the time you're a line holder. Schedules, fleet count, new bases are all things that could change by then. Good or bad. But QOL definitely takes a hit as a commuter. But lots of guys do it.

If you unsure about whether you wish to stay for two years, just take the contract and the bonus money and put it in a savings account. If you decide to leave, you only need to pay it back. If you end up not leaving, you still have the money.

Chance of getting CRJ
I am already typed on the 145 and really hope to get it in training.

What are the chances of getting assigned the CRJ? Looks like there are only a few CRJ slots per class. Does the CRJ go senior or junior?

Also I'm 26 so I'll probably be one of the last to get to select aircraft type. Don't wanna get stuck with the CRJ!

I'd say you have an EXCELLENT chance of getting the 145.

Bigtime209, thanks for the intel, thats exacty what I was looking for. I'm hoping the formal job offer will get sent out shortly. I'm looking at trying to get in a late April or May class, so hope the hiring into the 175 continues that far out.

Thx again.

You live in PHX. Why don't you go to Skywest and get back to base ASAP? You could probably get L.A. initially. Skywest has far superior schedules.

You are going to get beat up with those Envoy schedules and commuting. I.E. Get done late on day 4 (say it's Monday) commute first flight out next day Tuesday. Early RAP on Thursday. You've got to commute back out on Wednesday.

Are you referring to retirement or flow?
