It shouldn't really matter, the 824 agreement refers to bodies in class, not selected and put on a list.

How far ahead of time should a new hire expect to be notified of their class assignment?

Sorry for the dumb question, but what do people mean when they say the 824 or 825?

One of the specific flow agreements in place referred to 824 pilots flowing to AA. When the 824th enters class there, we move onto an agreement called the "protected pilots." Each agreement had separate stipulations.

Hi all just received a Contingent job offer, letter they gave us said 2-5 weeks to do the background check then we receive a formal offer if things check out. For those in the know, how long was the actual wait before you got the formal letter?
Thanks

It used to be around 1 week. They must have a lot of people in the queue for background checks.

Its only been a couple of days, just was wondering what the actual wait time really was.

Thanks

ahh, so kind of like a military unit. When you graduate a class you are grouped with pilots who are in your "year groups" so to speak.

There has been flowthrough to AA awarded to the pilot group over the years for varying reasons. The 824 refers to an arbitrators ruling from a grievance several years ago that granted 824 Eagle pilots flow through to AA. They would be known as the "824" flowthrough group. Those 824 pilots would be able to carry over their years of longevity to AA applicable to vacation accrual and immediate 401k vesting. An 824 pilot will immediately get I believe 4 or 5 weeks of vacation as soon as the step on AA property and are immediately vested in the 401k.

The next group of Eagle pilots were awarded flowthrough in 2011. Up until a certain time period, Eagle owned its aircraft. AMR transferred the ownership of those assets from Eagle to AMR itself. A grievance was filed as a result. A settlement was reached that granted any Eagle pilot on the seniority list by October of 2011 flowthrough to AA. These pilots would become the "Protected Pilot" flowthrough group. Unlike the 824 group, the Protected Pilot group would not carry over their longevity for vacation accrual and 401k vesting. They would get just as much vacation time as any new hire gets when they step on AA property. So anytime you hear about the 825th guy, he's getting the shaft by missing out by one person.

Beyond the Protected Pilot group, flow was offered to everyone else on property as a result of signing the concessionary contract in 2014. Pilots on the seniority list after October of 2011 up to the signing of the contract in 2014 would get flow at a reduced rate of that of the 824 and Protected Pilot groups. Furthermore, all new hires after the contract was signed will get flow at a further reduced rate.

That makes much more sense. Thanks for the detailed explanation!
