Interesting if you look at the FAA's list of Certificate Holders authorized to provide the CTP course. Atlas was approved 3/22/2016.

Right, which means you could get your ratings in a year at Riddle or wherever, instruct for another year, and then get hired with the minimum legally required hours into a 747. That's a problem.

As a new captain at ABX I've been flying 50/50 with old hands and new hires. The new hires have all been very good generally with 5,000+ hours of experience. Just flew with a Spanish speaking new hire down through Costa Rica and Panama. Made my life a whole lot easier! If I was doing the hiring for any of the ACMI's I wouldn't take anyone with less then 4,000 hours.

Interesting turn of events. K4 is inundated with applications. They have gone to a more selective hiring process. Hopefully we will see positive results. For Pilots at Atlas who are not planning to stay there more than a few years before moving on to another type of flying, and like the ACMI lifestyle, K4 may be a good option. At this time Kalitta offers a better lifestyle than Atlas. However that could change tomorrow.

This is good news for everyone. I personally believe that the only reason K4 became serious about contract negotiations was because we could not fill seats in classes. Hopefully the management at Atlas will come to the same conclusion and move this process along.

This is a load of BS. I got a letter from them a month ago telling me I've not been selected to continue the hiring process and to reapply again in a year. All I did was apply, never was sent an assessment. Almost 4000TT, clean record, 4 year degree, 141 trained, 121 experience.

Exactly. There are so many regional pilots and 135 guys applying to Atlas and everywhere else that one could fill the Great Lakes with pilots. While Atlas may not be Delta, it sure as heck beats any regional or bottom feeder 135 op out there, and so they will always have a steady supply of candidates from which they can be readily picky.

What are the chances of holding CVG as a newhire?

Back in October Atlas called me to set up an interview. I was working and missed the call. When I called back, got a voicemail and left a message. They never returned my call. I was never dead set on going to Atlas but if they had at least called me back I probably would have interviewed and gone there if I was hired.
