Just wondering — why does the closet floor need to be reinforced? What’s going in the closet that’s denser than the now-removed seats and people?

Exactly! That’s why forums are fun.

Maybe that’s where the ice cream maker and spa tub go? I ALWAYS miss out on those “bennies”....spent most of freshman year looking for the indoor swimming pool at my high school which those kind upperclassmen told me about.

No idea. It’s just what I was told but that person could have been inventing details. It would be interesting to see the actual specifications on the CRJ550.

Default 135 to 121 Transition and Training Question

Hey Guys,

I’m an experienced 135 CA with several jet PIC types/ATP, making the transition to 121. I’m scheduled for a January class date on the ERJ. Just wondering if anyone else has made a similar transition, and if so, what advice you can offer.

Also, will SkyWest provide training materials/CBTs prior to class in order to get a head start?

Thanks in advance!

You won't get any training materials in advance. Usually you get 4 or 5 days off to finish your cbts during training.

Welcome to Skywest! I choice the CRJ and I didn’t exactly make a similar transition from 135, but if I were you I would just enjoy your time off, relax, and spend it with family, etc until then and show up prepared to study the material. You won’t have time to do much else for a couple months while you are here. When you show up all material will be provided to you and you’ll get your EFB the first week of training. If you really are intent on getting ahead I would say reading part 121 regs could be helpful for the first portion and if you really want to get ahead you can get ahold of the SOPM for the ERJ and begin studying the flows. Good luck!

I highly doubt anyone would be willing to send him the SOPM since it is considered security sensitive.

OP, I agree with reviewing the 121 regs and making sure you know them well. When you get to training they will get you everything you need. As long as you don't slack off on studying while you are in training, you should be fine.

They’ll teach you everything you need to know. Unless they tell you to study ahead of time, I wouldn’t worry about it.

I'll echo the other guys and say I wouldn't study early. If you study the wrong things it can really hurt you during training because of primacy. You'll have enough time to study during training just make sure you tell your family and friends you won't be available for anything for a few months to be sure you give yourself the opportunity to succeed.
