Vacation days

Riiiight.
If folks really ended up not getting vacation, then I'd hate it, too. Despite being overstaffed, no one gets denied vacation overall at 9E. Seniority determines when you take it, not whether you get it.

This is also the case at ExpressJet. Over there, when bidding for next year’s vacation, they must have enough vacation weeks available to bid as there will be accrued vacation weeks by the entire pilot group. Every pilot bids and is awarded all the weeks they have accrued. If management needs pilots to work, they must solicit pilots to sell their vacation at 150% premium. If they have to cancel pilots’ vacation, they also pay a premium plus (or roll it over to next year) any costs to the pilot for airfare, hotel, any vacation costs already accrued. I don’t think they’ve ever cancelled vacation because it’s too costly. They simply plan ahead.

Not sure why this was said, honestly.
What Regional Airline is better? What other Regional do you have free reign to drop trips that you don't want and/or want to take vacation on? What other Regional is vacation not based off seniority?
No wholly owned carrier can drop trips. Endeavor, which put pilots on a 3 month long voluntary "vacation" can't drop trips. So I just wonder why it is you just hate the new vacation bid so much?

It was said because at my seniority almost every single regional has better vacation accrual than us(there are literally only 2 that don't), and quite a few have almost 2 weeks more annual vacation accrual.
This combined with the complete inability to drop or swap trips for the last several years is getting very frustrating, and nothing is being done to fix the issue.

At expressjet, after the four rounds of vacation bidding are complete in November, everyone knows all their awarded weeks of vacation for the following year in order make their plans. Of course, as vacation weeks become vacant (upgrades, resignations, etc), pilots are able to submit real time trades for any open weeks.
