Unfortunately, the CRJ isn't an option for me purely due to basing locations, otherwise I'd take it. Since I have the written knocked out, I'd think that I would have at least a weeks heads up if someone no shows to class since the majority of folks need the CTP course? I could be off center on that though.

I'm assuming that there are CBTs that need to be completed prior to class start. Is it realistic to knock these out in a week?

Newhires are given four days between indoc and the rest of class to do the systems CBT's. At least, that's how the CRJ side does it.

Where are you commuting from? The amount of time you waste waiting for an ERJ slot to open up could make or break your experience, since you can take the CRJ, fly a ton, and transition over to the ERJ retaining relative seniority. We're hiring something like 100 a month, six months of waiting for the underwing engine variety may mean you'll never even hold your desired domicile unless that happens to be LGA.

Now adays i would say it’s not that big if a deal to wait for the ERJ... QOL vs flight time. May cost ya a year on a major or upgrade. But things are good in the industry right now. Not that big of a deal. If things go south. You will wish you had that 600 numbers back...

I wish I could get about six (6) numbers back. It would be worth at least $1M. No joke.

Words of wisdom for those of us up and coming, no doubt. I'll add, "past performance does not guarantee future results." More seniority, more job security given the company doesn't implode.

CRJ isn't an option because I'm commuting from Hawaii. I have a few friends who commute from here for the CRJ and they all regret not choosing the ERJ. I completely understand the seniority thing, but unfortunately, I have obligations until towards the end of the year anyhow.

I guess what I'm trying to figure out is;

- Are there many, if any, class no shows on the ERJ side of the house
- If there are no shows, are the seats left unfilled
- If seats are filled, how do they prioritize filling seats

Anyhow, just trying to better understand how this all works. Thanks everyone for the inputs thus far.

What makes the ERJ more desirable than the CRJ for a commuter from Hawaii.

CRJ for SFO is more junior and a quicker upgrade than ERJ. And I think LAX as well.

You'll be commuting to reserve far longer on the ERJ which I guarantee you is far worse than commuting to a line on the CRJ.
