This. I would think LAX or SFO would be the easiest commutes and both are much more junior on the CRJ. I think his friends don't really understand what they think their missing out on.

Howabout commuting from HNL to reserve in LAX/SFO as a captain. Doable or pure torture?

How badly do you want to do that? Non-rev from Hawaii to the west coast can be easy, and it can be impossible, day to day, week to week, Summer and Winter. I know people who have bought tix after three days of no jumpseats and oversold flights. Plus, the prevalence of 737's these days rather than widebodies can result in some real weight restrictions.

Couple that with the misery of reserve and doing it weekly, and not being able to sit at home waiting for the call... The only people I've ever known who do that kind of commute are senior lineholders, for a reason.

Hawaii is the number 1 destination for non revs for United. It’s common that the lists can get 70-100+ long for non revs.

Correct. A two leg commute through Tokyo would be a total buzzkill too.

I know am FO who does HNL BOI without issue. He's young though. Makes me tired just thinking about it.
