Ouch. Don't know enough about how in depth they rummage through social media, but that sucks. Always a good choice to keep your cards close and don't offer information to the public that they don't need to know (i.e. multiple job offers). Really hope you find out and get some feedback as to why the offer was rescinded. That's f'ing bush league. Good luck to you.

Whooop there it is...

Would you offer a job to someone that posted that they’re accepting a job to your competitor as their “first choice”?

If your profile is open to the public that might be why.

She told me I could apply again in 6 months so it's not like I got blacklisted I guess.
Skywest has no shortage of pilots right now - Training dates wayyy out to mid next year - so they will cut anyone that doesn't fit their pretty box. Lock down your social media and don't share stuff you wouldn't want any company to see.

Tbh Your post history really demonstrates you’ve miss judged the pilot shortage.
Besides the negative Skywest posting here and being employed elsewhere, you call three days before orientation to push it back because the flying where you live has had poor wx?
Nobody likes that.
Enjoy Republic, they have a good pilot group too.

Don’t know much about his post history, but in the first post he has no failures. In a later post, “I failed my cfii.” Then he’s posting on social media that he accepted, not only offered, but accepted his first choice, which wasn’t skw.

If you’ve got an offer from your number one regional, who cares?

Well there you go. They don't want to spend time and money on you knowing you'll be leaving before you finish training.

Word to the wise in this industry... delete all non-anonymous social media accounts until you're at your career destination airline. I know you millenials will find that utterly incomprehensible but even if YOU are the paragon of internet virtue, all it takes is one of your idiot friends to associate your feed with some sort of stupidity and you just lost a dream job. I know of jobs lost to posts and photos related to drugs, sex, racism, and extreme politics... in all cases I know of the pilot was not that stupid, but his "friends" were.

Also know of jobs lost to trash-talking the company. Big shout out to the guy who did it from a non-anonymous account WHILE IN CRUISE FLIGHT. Being off probation didn't help that dude.

Make sure your anonymous accounts are as anonymous as possible. There are no guarantees of safety but for example your registration email and user ID on APC should not be used ANYWHERE else, and if you post unusual circumstances anyone who is aware of those circumstances now knows who you are forever (and that includes employers).

Savage they didn't even tell you why the rescinded it, pure savage. Well at least you learned your social media lesson early in your career.

They probably already paid for your travel and hotel. How much notice did you have before your cadet class? 2-4 weeks ? More? Then canceled 3 days out... im sure thats it. They don't stalk social media.. they would need a whole dedicated department for that with 100+ in training 600+ probably hired already for the next 6 months.. plus all the cadets..

OP, you seem like you are on the younger side (no offense, that is just how you come off). With the post you made on FB, I think a good analogy for you would be that it's kinda like asking a girl to the prom who says yes, but secretly already said yes to another guy, but she isn't going to tell you no until she is absolutely positive that her first choice is actually going to take her. You happen to look at her facebook because you are interested in what she is up to lately, and see that she posted that she said yes to going to the prom with the other guy.

Would you wait and see if she is going to end up at the prom with you, or would you blow her off? (in this scenario you are the girl and SkyWest is the backup guy)

Obviously I have no idea if the facebook post actually has anything to do with them rescinding your offer, but if it does, who can actually blame them for cutting ties?
