hiring concerns with no flow

SkyWest for the most part has the same management who declined a UAL flow many years back, most likely had the GPI program in their pocket for years, and now are colluding with their partners to hold off SkyWest pilots with mainline class dates. Pushing a class date a month back for specific hires is costing them 100’s of seniority numbers.
What a ruthless industry. The fastest path to United and slowest path to American is currently through Envoy. Think about that, now play your cards accordingly. If you don’t have your apps out to the LCC’s you’re misplaying your hand severely.

What concerns me more than not having flow, is Skywest actively went out and asked Delta to slow down their hiring of Skywest pilots. I have friends who were offered CJOs at Delta and are waiting months longer than people in their interview group who worked at an ULCC. My friends were told in an email directly from delta, “we are spreading out classes amongst our delta connection carriers to protect their operations, if you have further questions please reach out to your companies management.”
So skywest doesn’t have flow, but is also asking the majors to not hire their pilots? Who would want to work here after hearing that?

Just for some levity here folks, go look at the SkyWest Pilot Recruitment page on FB. You'll see hundreds of new FO's every month. They are obviously hiring and training.
Hiring is not the problem, attrition is.
Here's to hoping SAPA and management can come up with better pay, QOL, work rules, etc. to reduce the current loss rate.
I picked OO for the copmany's reputation, AQP training, ERJ, bases, and from the valued opinions of about 20 friends who have gone to various regionals lately.
Best of luck and success to everybody! And remember we get to fly for a living!!!

Why don't you ask a pilot from TSA or Expressjet? Pretty sure they would have accepted less pay and/or QOL
for a guaranteed flow like AA wholly owned regional pilots have. There were many really good senior pilots
overlooked or denied a job at United that wouldn't have mattered if they had a flow to UAL. Ask one of them
if flow matters. Many young pilots at their first airline think that pay and QOL are the Holy Grail. There are
regional pilots who have made a lateral move to an AA WO for the flow. I've flown with them. I know 2 pilots
who went to Piedmont over 3 years ago from Expressjet as a DEC and they will be flowing to AA in 2-3 years.
Ask them if it was worth it.

If you were hired prior to 2015 at PSA, flow was good to you. After that, you're giving up a lot of seniority by waiting for flow. As for FOs, just about every one I've flown with lately has an interview at LCC or better. Flow is pretty meaningless for new hires in this current environment.

it is true. But not new. They have done this for years. Years. But now UA has stopped enforcing it because as UA draws down Skywest flying and moves it back to the mainline aircraft coming, they don’t care as much. “Issue will take care of its self” as they said. So I think they are now actively hiring MORE Skywest guys to hurt DL, AA and AS flying down the road. It’s genius. So now DL is having to put on the brakes. Things are about to get really interesting assuming world war three can be prevented.

My friend was saying that their friend in indoc just filled out a Horizon app. The class already knows Skywest probably isn't what it used to be. I would say get out to people there and stay away for potential new hires. Skywest has done nothing except push more and more pilots out the door with their idiocy. Someone really needs to get fired, or a few people. I have never felt so marginalized by my employer and in a time that we can just walk away is just dumbfound.

all airlines have their glory days when they can say they are the best. Skywest had theirs. Now the sun is setting on it and there is no way around that.
