The contract likely came about because so many 1-2 year (or even less) First Officers bailed out for the likes of Sunny, Spirit, Frontier and Southwest. These F/Os then made the move to the big three succesfully jumping the line and skipping the PIC upgrade and serveral years at the regional. Even though hiring has slowed this route let it factor in and be considered.

I interviewed a few days ago. The contract was not mentioned. The interviewer stated to expect a reply within a couple of weeks. If I do not hear anything by next week I will apply to other regionals. I already have my ATP and not in a CFI job or a flying job. Wondering if my experience, 4k hours total and PIC turbine 650 will be a detriment to being hired. It seems they hire mostly CFIs with no ATP currently.

With your experience you need to go to an airline who's pilots aren't metered.

Interviewd 5/30 and haven't heard a thing. Coincedentally, the new agreement option came out the same day (which I haven't responded to), so I'm wondering if they're waiting on that.

Word to the wise, kids. There is no "line." Skip every year at a regional you can. SkyWest seems to think you owe them something. Beyond the first year, you don't. If you can get hired at a major without "paying your dues," freaking do it. It's not the mid 90's. You don't need to play this game.

Resume details: 10+ years at SkyWest, now at a major where I'm much happier.

I would do that but right now I havent been in flying job for many years. I will need to start at regional and work up based on current practices at a major.

Question

I interviewed 5/17, was told to expect a "positive" email in 2 days - 1.5 weeks. No mention in person or via email of a contract.

After hearing nothing I emailed my recruiter on 5/30 for a update and got an automatic reponse saying they were out of the office until 6/5, they never replied.
I also emailed recruitment 5/30 they said be patient (fair enough).

I emailed my recruiter again 6/13, again no reply.

Would love to hear back from Skywest before I spend the cash on ATP CTP for Envoy...

Just wanted share my experieince so far and see if others have been waiting 1+ month to hear back after an interview?

I just got a phone call less than a week after my interview that they were extending me a CJO. I told the recruiter that I would not be signing the contract as things sit right now. She then went into a pretty poor sales pitch talking about all of the "outs" I had with the contract. These included medical issues, legal issues, and building time faster than expected in a CRJ and making captain within a year. She also told me that the %60 of her candidates who signed already had class dates within a month or so of signing and the %40 who did not sign, she didnt know when they would get dates. I'm grateful I have other regional offers at the moment.....

Same boat. Haven't heard anything since the CJO, but not sure I should expect to for a while. My interviewer slipped up and told me CRJ class dates were out to mid-July. That must only be for folks signing.

Out of curiosity, which other regionals do you have offers from? Gojet class dates are apparently all the way into next year, save for cancellations. They put me on the waitlist.

I'm hoping that being resolute and not selling future pilots down the river won't screw me here. Not signing either way.
