Looks like the company just announced that the first 175 base will be ORD.

Possible hint at beginning of merger with XJT operations?

Or possibly the worse, and XJT phase out of ORD to the new bases created.

All speculation of course.

No. The message says they will all be current bases and the next will be announced shortly.

I know that they're interviewing right now. I have two friends interviewing next week who called me asking for a gouge and recommendation. Skywest tends to be pretty secretive about their future plans so I doubt anyone who isn't in management can give an accurate prediction of how long the interviews and new hire classes will last. I do know that they have interviews scheduled for the next few weeks though.

They used to email all of us class schedules many months out. I don't think they're secretive, I think they just don't know at this point. The major airline hiring boom they were expecting hasn't happened yet.

Not since I've been here.. I think I find out more from APC, people I know interviewing, and talking to sim instructors than I do from our website.

There was a time when our VP of FO kept us updated with training schedules. These spreadsheets included dates and class sizes for each position (new hires, transitions and upgrades). Brad Holt was our VP at that time and was extremely detailed, but when Klen took over our communications started to wane. In mid-08 all training came to a stop so with it these spreadsheets, for obvious reasons. When we began hiring again in late 2010 he sent out a few emails here and there but Klen's emails were never as detailed as Brads, not even close. I believe the last email posting training classes from Klen was in 2011.

I do wish we still had that information. I'm still pretty junior so I have a lot of old co-workers and students still trying to get their first airline job. They always message me asking when we're going to start hiring, what equipment, when interviews will be scheduled, etc. It would also be really nice to know in advance about transitions or upgrades. Right now I've been debating whether to bid for an RJ transition or wait because I have pretty good seniority on the bro. If I knew they planned on running classes for a few months I would wait. If they said they planned to run just one or two more classes then take a break I would definitely bid it now.
