Predicting the airline industry is impossible. The new hire brasilia class two weeks before mine got a line right out of training and I was told to expect the same. I ended up spending 8 months on reserve in the most junior base. The classes right after mine spent over a year on reserve. In the past people have upgraded to the brasilia in under a year.

If movement really picks up you can expect a short amount of time on reserve on the brasilia. Probably not more than a few months. You should always be prepared to spend years on reserve if things slow down right after you're hired though.

Yeah I hear it can be a roller coaster but anything is better than my schedule now. 5 on (24hrs on call) 2 off and on call every other weekend.

The Bro is definitely your best bet to hold a line. The early classes with this round of hiring likely won't spend long on reserve. How long exactly is tough to say but for these first couple classes I'd guess a month or two simply because that is how long it will take for the next class of new hires to get to the line behind them. Like rcfd said, it can be a crap shoot though. Prepare for the worst and hope for the best.

Take the Bro, you won't regret it!

My friend who interviewed recently had to use the Frasca, and the announcement about Oshkosh said they would be using a King Air. Whether or not you have to fly the sim is usually at their discretion though. If you have 121 experience or if they just run out of time sometimes they won't make you fly it.

Howdy SkyWest folks -

I accepted an August 5th class in the Bro. I'm very excited to say the least. This will be my second 121 job (and second full time flying job). Any advice for a newbie? I received my study packet today and will get to work on the limitations and memory items. The next two weeks will be a whirlwind.

Know the packet and limits. Really that is all you can do beforehand. The teachers are very good at what they do. Study when you are in class and don't slack off like some people do and you will be fine. Have fun!

Congrats on the Bro class!!! I have an interview this week and am hoping for good things.

Does anyone know if they ask for your college transcripts during the interview? They weren't a required thing mentioned in the interview email, though I've heard people talk about them before from years past.

Any info is appreciated!
