How long has it been since the true regional model went away and was replaced by the subcontracting system in place today?

SkyWest used to do all their own flying, selling tickets, etc., long before they started the PFD contracts currently signed with their major partners.

How do the delta benefits compare to united? Do you get still get delta benefits if you're on the CRJ in ORD or do you have to be in a delta base?

You get Delta benefits as long as you don't fly the E175. There are plenty of Delta trips out of ORD. You don't have to be based in a Delta domicile to fly a Delta trip.

Delta doesn't charge to list for first class, even for international flights. I went to South America recently and it would have been either $56 round trip first class on Delta, or $400 round trip first class on United. Combine that with the fact that United flights are almost constantly oversold and you actually have a chance at getting on Delta flights and there's no comparison.

The hardest part about using Delta benefits for me is that I don't live in a Delta domicile and the leg to ATL is always full.

That's a pretty big step up from the last year and a half where they've been upgrading 0-10 per month. At 10 per month it would take 11 more years before upgrades got to my number. I was pretty excited when I saw them finally award a class of 20.

We're insanely low-staffed Captain-wise. Gonna be a fun summer, and I can't help feeling like management is mis-reading the tea leaves but I keep hearing we're losing too many First Officers and they don't have enough FO's to send more to upgrade.

Management is either not telling us everything, or they're not proactively thinking (both could be true). But, if Skywest starts upgrading and shows movement, the people will come.

No movement, why would anyone work here. Reference full Mesa and PSA classes.

More EMB120 reductions...in addition to the already cxl MOD/LMT service.

PDX-SEA, PDX-EUG, PDX-RDM, FAT-LAS and PSP-LAS will all be stopped this fall. Unfortunately, these reductions will impact our PDX EMB domicile effective with the schedule change Sept. 2, 2014.

Also, announcing a new maintenance base to open in BOI...currently finalizing construction plans.

Untied benefits suck... they're almost pointless. Plus, any UA employee can bump us on our own metal using their seemingly endless vacation passes. That's why I urge everyone not list for a SkyWest United flight more than an hour prior to departure... once you get inside the 60 min window, the mainline employee cannot change their listing to SA0V bumping you. Once they see SkyWest people listing SA0X they immediately start changing. We NEVER get bumped on our own metal when flying Delta, mainline can't even use their S2.
