The only way that would work is if you required all SAPA members to work out of the junior bases. Now there's a novel idea. They can still live in Salt Lake, they just need to *gasp* commute! Thus staying informed on junior crew issues AND commuter issues. Edit: And can't bid above 35% either! Otherwise they might be bidding 5% and get too comfortable with their schedules, forgetting what its like for everyone else. We can all dream... If you meant unionizing SAPA, see previous post. Its cost prohibitive. ALPA benefits from economies of scale. We'd get WAY more bang for our buck with ALPA. All the benefits are basically subsidized by the higher wages of legacy carriers. Which brings about the conflict of interest complaint. However, all decisions come from our local MEC. |
Skywest v2.0
Either way, I am an advocate for better representation that has legal backing.
In this market it’s naive to not want that and utilize the increasing leverage that the pilot group has towards increasing pay and QOL. I had a friend recently reach out and address how crappy their QOL is at SkyMid-West.. We are in a position to address that with better representation! |
Earnings report in 20 minutes. Can't wait to hear Mr. CEO tell investors we are properly staffed again just like every other earnings report Q&A session.

Define proper staffing. We talking company idea of it or pilots idea of it...?? Two different interpretations...
West coast 175 is a different airline. I'm talking about SkyMidWest mostly. |

When flights cancel for staffing and they have to re flow pilots to cover sick calls, etc we are not properly staffed for either interpretation.

Bingo....On the call “pilot hiring excited our operational plan”...

Lots of dodging XJT/UA rumors. From listening to the calls, I'm not convinced it will happen. did hint at industry “shuffling”.(was that a hint at Republic/TSA).??.. XJT will still loose money in 2018. No plans for there 22-CRJ700’s... majors are scoped out.. except AS and AA 65 seaters... On the OO side 42 new 175’s in 2018 other then that just business as usual...

Chief pilots calling new hire FO's and bulling them into another round trip is not proper staffing from the employees point of view.
