Never in a million years would I let the quality of non-rev travel sway my career plans. I've had it with several major carriers, both traditional and low-cost, and it's still a pain in the ass.

I'm not talking about deciding where to go, I'm saying when figuring total compensation package you need to add that too if you plan on using it. I use it 5-8 times per year

It seems like swa has probably the best work rules out of the majors/ups/Fedex. The ability to earn the most amount of money seems to be at swa. Now as for the other side of the coin, time off, I'm not sure if the work to pay ratio is also the best at Swa or somewhere else.
As numerous have posted above its not just hourly rates but work rules. I have family and friends at all carriers and none come close to FDX. 500k for a Captain (wide body which most are at FDX) is not even hustling every day, such as whats required to get this at other carriers. My uncle worked 9 months last year (5 weeks of vacation equals 3 months off easily) and made 487k. That is working 14-15 days a month not selling himself 20-22 days a month such as whats required at others to make this coin. Just FYI

Just to broaden your SA window a little bit, you are aware UPS has a contract that's very similar to FX with higher pay scales and guarantee? And there are guys at DAL doing the same as your uncle at FedEx - I'm sure it's the same at UPS, AA, and UAL. These guys are the exceptions, not the rule.

Dont know about exception as compared to the normal. The point im making is that the numbers dont lie. If you are to look at a career on a all narow body (SW) or mostly narrow body fleet (DL,UA,AA. I know im on one) the money difference is big. Im happy with my Airline but the pay difference is no lie when you look at average guy vs average guy. Not throwing stones just pointing out the obvious.

Block - somewhere between 600-1000
TFP - somewhere between 90-410 (yes, that new record was set last month)
Average is around 800 block and 108 tfp.

Was the 410 guy a captain or fo?

Good god. How do you get that much credit? Vacation month then pick up premium?

Pretty much. Pretty absurd amount of money for one month's pay regardless of how much he worked. More power to him!

I'm jealous. I'd do that a couple months if I could and then just coast the rest.
