Try the whole summer... over June, July and August, he will have done almost 1,000 TFP total in just these 3 months. That's around $218k gross pay without B-plan, per diem or much life outside of work. As you said, more power to him.

As numerous have posted above its not just hourly rates but work rules. I have family and friends at all carriers and none come close to FDX. 500k for a Captain (wide body which most are at FDX) is not even hustling every day, such as whats required to get this at other carriers. My uncle worked 9 months last year (5 weeks of vacation equals 3 months off easily) and made 487k. That is working 14-15 days a month not selling himself 20-22 days a month such as whats required at others to make this coin. Just FYI

So using the pay calculator tool on this site and plugging in the numbers, you'd have to credit about 125 hrs a month at top capt pay to hit those numbers let alone be over 500k.. and thats without 3 months off. Also confused how a month and a week off for vacation suddenly becomes 3 months off unless its like netjets where you get a week off before and after your vacation week (ie 4 weeks becomes 12..) I realize work rules play a huge part in all this but at min guarantee, you're at like 285k. You're saying work rules account for the other 200k+? Do reserve pilots get these type of numbers too or is it only line holders? I really like that you can make some serious money and not kill yourself doing it at fedex (not counting backside of the clock flying ). To me, that's what it's all about. Finding a place that offers the most money for the least work.
FedEx is hands down the best place to get more pay for less work. At SWA you can make a wheelbarrow of cash, but that comes at a price. You can also take a lot of time off. We have that flexibility, but they don't like paying us to sit around.
If you have six weeks of vacation (over 15 years on property I believe) you can take 3 months off. Anything that touches your vacation is pulled with pay. That means you can stagger your weeks and bid the right line and not work for 3 months. The guy I was talking about above who credited 410 trips took vacation and then worked over his vacation which is how he managed to pull in so much in one month (just shy of $90 large).

26.25 or total of trips pulled. We have some third party bidding tools that will predict your pay based on what line you bid. Since most of the high paying vacation lines are weekend lines with 4 days, they tend to go senior for vacation bidders which is nice for those not bidding with vacation.
The most I have personally seen is a shade over 50tfp for one of my vacation weeks in April that overlapped into May.

A pilot, while on vacation, will be paid for all TFP lost from his bid line, or three and three-quarters (3.75) TFP per day (i.e. twenty-six and one-quarter (26.25) TFP per week of vacation), whichever is greater.
