Make no mistake, this has to do with Contract negotiations coming up. The union and membership has more leverage if attracting a limited supply of qualified pilots is a concern. If the company can tout an eager supply of pilots, then some of that leverage is lost. This is a move to get a yes vote IMO.

This idea seems to be getting a lot of heat, but I’d go to XO if it meant I got a SWA spot in a couple years. I’m not a hero, but I’m a long way from a zero too, and it’s starting to feel like the majors are just a pipe dream without something like this.

Relax. You’re 4-5 years ahead of anyone that’s not even in this program yet. Take a deep breathe

There is a ton of risk involved. If you get accepted into this destination 225 program, go to Swift or XO and then don't get / pass the interview with SWA now you're stuck at a place you probably dont want to be long-term and from which it's less likely to get picked up by the legacies. I can't believe they're not at least giving guaranteed interviews to pilots who successfully complete the program. What is the incentive for somebody to apply to this?

I don’t think going to work for XO is a gamble. There are quite a few ex-NetJets and Flexjet pilots at SWA and other airlines. So even if SWA fell through for someone at XO, they still are getting great hours and a fast upgrade (at least the last I heard it was).
