Delta is spooling up the hiring machine. Hopefully airlines will need to compete for experienced, well qualified pilots again soon.

It'll help you get to know our culture, but it won't help you get an interview. That's computer driven. Try to get to the next job fair in Dallas, whenever they schedule the next one.

1.Get a degree if you don’t have one,
2.fly your butt off - seems like 5500+ TT is sweet spot. (Based on a conference a few years ago) 3.upgrade if you can - (1000 TPIC) 4.check airman if you can. 5.Job fairs. - at job fairs/conferences you will probably meet some SWA pilots that would love to help/give you some rec letters. 6.Community involvement of some kind. pretty much in that order of importance. but all are important. It seems to me that the computer attributes points to all those boxes (or at least most of them). This just seems to be the way it works to me. I’m not privy to the inner workings You will need some letters of rec (2 or 3 I believe.) if you get an interview. Jumpseating may work? or another form of networking as mentioned above. Biggest lesson I learned in the whole process is - If you know your goal apply consistent effort over time to the goal and it will happen eventually. good luck! |

I would not advise trying to jump seat just for the heck of it. You'll either a) annoy the crew that you want to sit jump when there are probably seats in the back, b) take the JS from another pilot that has to make a commute, or c) force small talk upon a crew that wants to do anything but talk shop.
There will be hiring events and conventions coming soon. I'd wait for those. |

You trying to get somebody to write you a letter? Not going to happen like that.

If they call me again we'll know how serious they are. They HATED me at my interview but my app is probably still technically active, so if they get back to me at this point we will have confirmation that they're truly desperate LOL.

Captain I'm with this week said he talked to an NOC chief pilot (who said his sister saw Ferris pass out at 31 flavors...) who told him they wanted to hire 300 by the end of the year.
If that is true I would imagine they're going to have to announce an application window and get the ball rolling pretty quickly here. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
