Default Passengers Removing Masks ???

I was planning to fly on this airline , but I am hearing information such that once passengers are onboard the aircraft, they are allowed to remove the face masks ? Can someone please confirm this ? I do not want to be onboard any aircraft where such activity is taking place in the face of Covid 19 restrictions ............. If it is true, then what responsibility is the airline taking for this action by passengers especially if it is not enforced by the flight crews ?

I commuted on SWA in the beginning of the month and everyone was required to keep their mask on except for briefly when eating or drinking. I don't think it has changed.

What "restriction", specifically, is it you are concerned about being violated?

Sounds like you may be better off staying home in a safe, sterile environment...with masks, sanitizer and full body suits.

if he or she is a paying customer, I want their business. And then I want them to go home and tell their friends how safe and well cared for they were. So anything we can do to make them feel safe, we should be doing.

just because someone is on this forum doesn’t automatically make them a freeloader. Fractional and charter pilots buy a TON of last minute, top dollar fares. They are high value customers who deserve our appreciation, not ridicule.

I wear the mask because I have to. The jury is still out, even among the experts, on how effective they are because they do not seal, or the pores on the bandanas are too big, etc. But hey, its not a big deal. Understand, I am a "Mr. 'Murica"....a freedom loving patriot to the Nth degree who hates fearful knee-jerk reactions to whatever the media decides to have as the emergency of the day, BUT wearing a mask does not take anything away. It may be a band aid on a sucking chest wound, but its just not a big deal to comply with.
There are going to be people refusing to wear it They are usually the same people who ride their bicycles ON the white line of the bike lane instead of riding IN the bike lane, shaking their fists at cars and posting the "douchebag" cars on youtube.
I would rather not wear it, but hey, its not a big deal, even to me.

I flew In the back from MCO last Friday and the gate agents/FAs were constantly advising pax about rules in the current environment. You’ll still see the occasional individual with a nose exposed, etc, but generally it seemed to be a non issue. OP’s apprehension seems to be a bit excessive, but to each his own!

Please ignore the smarta... remarks above. To answer your question: Southwest policy is all passengers and crew members are required to wear the masks correctly for the entire duration of the flight, including boarding and deplaning. The exceptions are young children and passengers with medical issues preventing them from wearing masks. Passengers are also allowed to momentarily take them off while eating and drinking. I've deadheaded several times recently and have to tell that overwhelming majority of passengers are complying with the policy. Once in a while there is a jacka.. who wants to showcase his "toughness", ignorance, or political opinion by refusing to put on the mask. They usually put it on while mumbling incoherently when presented an option to leave if they don't wanna comply.
Bottom line, everyone is welcome to fly on our airline when following these simple rules and employee's instructions. You can also be assured you will have an empty seat next to you. Also, please don't get discouraged by idiotic responses, they are voices of a minority and usually come from people with political agenda or those who miss the concept of reality.
