I spewed my soda when I read the thing about changing your kids names.
i don’t normally get a lot of insights off of here, but if GK pulls this one off, his name will live nearly as large as Herb’s. I had not thought of how SW shut down any Cares extension. If this thing ends in any time frame less than 18 months, the furlough, downgrade, recall, upgrade and training pay protection associated with the furloughs at the legacy carriers will make GK look like a genius.
With that said, SW could not have done without the volunteers for VSP and ExTo. God bless ya’ll for helping keep me employed, at least for now.

Well over here at Delta we're trying to figure out how to steal your CEO. Sounds like he's not thinking about the next job or running for office. On many levels I really hope you guys are successful in not putting anyone out on the street.

I hope the people running your joint get their heads out of their asses and remember why they put every employees’ name on a plane in Feb. Got a lot of worried buddies over there not feeling very appreciated....

My guess is that if WN successfully goes through this without a furlough and still exists two years from now, he retires at the top of his game.

Summer 2021 and Summer 2022 total passenger numbers will be below Summer 2019, and likely at lower revenue as well. The question becomes how much lower, and whether a combination of retirements and the VSP and ExTO programs cut costs enough to avoid furloughs.
I applaud Southwest management for their aggressive VSP and ExTO programs. I believe Southwest was in a unique position to do this on such a large scale compared to the legacy carriers due to its business model of not having much international exposure, having no large wide bodies that are fairly useless right now, and the fact that their primary customer base (leisure travelers) are traveling at higher percentages than business travelers.
