MAX was grounded March 2019.
You’re saying SWA was going to go from ~9500 pilots to 12k in 9 months??
and I said his/company statement was “12k by 2020.” Similar to this one, “15k by 2025.”
Covid was spring of 2020.

If that figure were to apply to the end of 2025...plausible. S.America opportunities (MAX 7), Hawaii semi-domination. Filling back out previous routes with additional frequency.
I would bet that we have at least a few playbooks that could have us to that pilot figure by 2025.
Black swan/financial downturns not withstanding...that said, we tend to thrive in downturns as well. Heads we win...

The company having bought so many simulators, having expanded the training center by leaps and bounds over what it was when we got hired, seeking so many flight instructors, seeking many new CKA's, looking for many new FO mentors, hiring more people on to the interview team, moving up the number of MAX 7's it will take ASAP.... I don't know, they could use it all as a carrot to sign a crappy contract, but to me, it'd be a dumber threat than that of a furlough on April 1st was. Furloughs made no sense, using growth as a carrot in today's environment is just plain laughable.
This isn't Mesa or GoJet that require a crappy contract to get "competitive" against other regionals in order to get new jets from a mainline carrier and grow. We are that 1000 lbs gorilla that everyone pays attention to. I can see maybe short term mind games during negotiations, but I truly don't believe our negotiations will play any role in our expansion.

I'm saying that this particular rumor is a little much and smells of contract negotiations.
If I'm wrong then itll be the happiest I've been being wrong.
my prediction is 500-800 new hires a yr and 300-500 upgrades for the next three yrs. After that who knows.
Oh yeah and a shiny new wide body or max 10sthe company wants us to fly for the same pay. I know what the contract says but that's what they'll need to give us those shiny new planes.

If you believe every rumor you hear from another pilot, then I have some Iraqi Dinar to sell you. The exchange rate to Bitcoin is breathtaking.
Don't believe anything until the bid closes... you finish training... the airplane is sitting on the ramp... and you're strapped into the seat.
But just to be clear, the bet is if my seniority is able to hold the left seat in any domicile, no later than my 10th anniversary (early 2024) then I owe you BBQ and adult beverages at Hard 8 at your next recurrent.
If not, you buy me the same. (I also might gonna need an Uber home)
Did I get that right?

Wonder when they'll open the hiring window and begin interviews? (Not with pilots who already received CJOs, but new folks)
I know a few people chomping at the bit to apply.

Champing at the bit can sound funny to people who aren’t familiar with the idiom or the obsolete sense of champ, while most English speakers can infer the meaning of chomping at the bit.
good thing I posses English efficiency on my ATP or I'd wouldnt know what you meant.
