Default Minimum requirements

Myself and multiple folks with resumes that might be worth looking at (have an interview with another legacy) have been told we don’t meet the required qualifications. After reviewing the qualifications SWA is looking for, I’m not sure what to think when receiving basically a TBNT email two days after I submitted my application even after I’ve applied to other hiring windows and never got such a message. I mean this with nothing but humility but it’s hard to not sit there and question what might be the thought process here in what SWA is looking for. Just curious if there is something I’m missing. Again I’m not the only one. Thought I may of messed something up. Sincerely appreciate any input.

How quick was the tbnt? That sounds like an autogenerated email, and basically what that means is there is something in your app that is allowing it to get filtered out by the algorithms before making it to someone in HR and having a real person look over your application. I recommend going through an app review service, if you’ve already done one, contact someone you know at SWA for a recommendation on a diff app review service and get it reviewed again, fwiw. Good luck!

Highly unlikely it’s a lack of resume fodder, even though it feels like it. Odds are it’s either some T that wasn’t crossed on your app, or even more likely that it was some non-resume criteria that got baked into the gonkukator that didn’t get met. I’ve had a couple of buddies get the same message when it turns out their availability dates were too far back for what that window was looking for. I’ve also heard of second-hand anecdotes that folks who claim they don’t intend to either get the jab or apply for accommodation will also get that message, but I can’t confirm that. Anyways, point being it’s not like SWA is using secret benchmarks above and beyond everyone else for PIC or turbine time or what-have-you. I know there’s not much you can do with that, other than don’t just write us off and say “screw you” if you’d otherwise be a good fit. Maybe double check the app for any boxes being unchecked, otherwise I’m sure there’ll be a new window very soon. Good luck!

The magic sauce usually results in multiple interview hits within rapid succession - everyone is looking for very similar qualifications. Aside from that, conferences either virtual or in person as soon as they start doing them again are worth it, they usually have someone from HR there to personally look over your resume. They usually have special application windows for attendees that can also get you past the baseline gonkulator.

If you are applying to the current opening for SWA, there is a question that asks if you are vaccinated. There are 3 options for answering this question. When completing the application on certain platforms, some of the verbiage is cut off for the last two options. The first option states yes, I’m fully vaccinated. The second option states no, I am not fully vaccinated against COVID-19, but I commit to being fully vaccinated against COVID-19 for employment at Southwest Airlines or seeking an accommodation in regards to this vaccination requirement. The third option states no, I am not fully vaccinated, and I do not intend to become fully vaccinated against COVID-19. I understand that selecting this option removes me from consideration for this role.

If you select option 3 your application is automatically thrown out and you are done with the hiring process. The email address that you used is flagged and any subsequent application is thrown out as well. You will need to create another profile using a separate email address on Southwest.com/careers and re-apply to the current opening. You will also need to update your email address on Pilot Credentials to ensure it matches the one for your profile on Southwest.com/careers.

The hiring team is aware of the ambiguity for certain platforms trying to complete the application and they are working to have it addressed. If you decide to come here, be ready for continued tech debt on the company side.

Just a FYI, I haven’t heard of any accommodation not being accepted…

Preferred requirements is still 1000 turbine PIC, perhaps the 156 hours you’re short may make the difference.

You say “basically” TBNT. What was it actually?

You did both the credentials and careers pages right?

Hello ******Thank you so much for your interest in the Pilot - First Officer position! We are humbled that you are interested in a career at Southwest Airlines and that you would consider us a prospective place to work.

Because the information you provided does not meet the minimum requirements for this role as outlined in the description, we will not be moving forward with your application at this time. However, we strongly encourage you to search and apply for other available positions at Southwest Airlines that might be a better fit for your qualifications and experience. New opportunities are posted regularly on our careers site.

Hard not to be like…. Ummm what?

that won’t result in a response like this. With those credentials I’m guessing an unintentionally incorrectly answered question. Create a new email address and start over. Use that new address on the PC profile too
