I’m most certainly not being sarcastic.

It was never funny. Never understood why grown ass men feel the need to meowing on guard or any places for that matter.

If you’re not monitoring, you could well exceed a 15 minute lost comm window which will result in a “possible pilot deviation” due to recent DHS guidelines. Ask me how I know. That in itself makes monitoring guard prudent. Not inconvenient if the children in our skies stayed home. Or maybe grow up?

Guard is a thing of the past. I’d say MAYBE 5% of the captains I fly with use it. And only when it’s a red eye and we’re probably “studying the panel”.

I don’t think it was ever grown men doing it.

A person can grow up physically and chronologically, but some never grow up emotionally and psychologically.

Exactly my point. Agreed.

Really? We are lucky not to miss 50% of our required calls. It’s 3:00 am - nobody has a sense of humor at that hour!

😉

I took it he was joking when posting that. At least how I took it

Guard on #2 100% of the time above 10K. Volume turned down because of the noise. Yes, I have replied "delta ops" to pilots forgetting to flip, but the amount of $#!t on guard is insane. And inexcusable.

Perhaps here in North America. Outside of that I hear it used for its intended purpose all the time. I can tell you that the consequences of not monitoring it can be unpleasant. The Chinese take missing calls especially seriously. They vigorously follow up with the FAA and companies.
