Quote: Depends on frequency of flights and how long you'll be on RSV. Commuting to RSV is a special hell I wouldn't wish on anyone.

Commuting to a line is better, but still not awesome.

Driving to work completely changes the job.

6 SWA non-stops from SLC-LAS
1 SWA non-stop from SLC-LAX

Thanks! Yeah, no way I'd commute on reserve.
I'm not willing to deal with that. It's only a 5.5 hour drive to LAS. Haha

Show up for it. You'd be in the minority.

Is this actually routinely possible?

What about as a junior FO?

What about while on reserve?

Does a pilot who runs a business really have the ability to routinely fly 1 or 2 trips a month, or is that really just "in theory"?

Thanks!
It will be difficult, if not impossible as a junior guy to clear much of your board, and definitely not when you're on reserve.

I am fairly senior, in one of our most senior bases, and have the bidding horsepower to routinely clear all or most of my board, but it's definitely a grind.

Our base/seat open time situation is pretty desperate, mainly because we have so many folks that live here but can't hold CA, so they commute elsewhere. That makes it easier for me to give trips away than other base/seats. Talking to FOs in my base, most have a very difficult time getting rid of trips.

That doesn’t pass the smell test.
Plenty of people can “leave for better pastures”
Don’t know your buddy, and could be anything. It surprises me though, they are passing people up-all things considered?

Very believable to me .
HR along with the interview team have already stated they do not want anyone that wants to leave and they feel it is wrong for anyone to come to SWA with plans on leaving .

This place is a third tier airline job .

Talked with a couple of buddies this week who recently started at Delta and United respectively. Both said there were several current SWA folks in their interview group, and at least half a dozen now former SWA pilots in their new hire classes. It’s going to get worse before it gets better, and management need to get their heads out of their rear ends with respect to the hiring environment and their dumb negotiating play book and tactics.
