Default Upgrade Questions

Looks like I will just miss this next upgrade but could possibly make the Aug classes. Starting to make a plan for the extended time in Dallas.

What hotels are they using for upgrade class?
How long is training from start through end of sims?
Do we get any time off before UOE?
If I drive my own car to Dallas, are the hotel parking lots safe enough that it won’t get broken into?

Hotels vary by class. We stayed at the Marriott Marketplace next to the Anatole. Split a rental car with your Sim partner.

Depending on the break between Ground/Sims...expect 4 weeks. I had 28 nights in the hotel.

UOE is completely dependent on domicile and time of year. I had 5 days off. Some had 1 day.

Well...let's see if there is a diplomatic way to answer that...no. Unrelated to training, I purchased a car from a dealer in Dallas. Dealership is right next to Love Field. Wife and I flew out, picked up the car and went to the DoubleTree for a night before starting our drive home. Came out in the morning and someone had tried to break in to the literally brand new car. The driver-side window was smashed, but not broken. So, I would say 'No', there is no safe hotel to park your car in Dallas.

We were at the Renaissance. It has a parking garage that seemed pretty secure. Nobody messed with my car, but it’s a beater airport car that I keep around because I don’t care what happens to it at Love Field. I agree with splitting a rental with your sim partner. The area around Love isn’t great for food. You can only eat so much Rodeo Goat. With a car you can eat at Maple Landing, On Rotation brewery, Hard 8 BBQ, Pecan Lodge, or Cane Rosso. (There’s lots more but those are my favorites)

The training is twice as long as it needs to be and just as randomly haphazard and disorganized as newhire was. No systems refresher whatsoever either. But, it’s the last big milestone at this company so make the best of it and enjoy the time with your classmates! Congrats in advance!

Don't take your own car. Get the most worthless piece of junk rental you can find and make SURE you're covered for theft/vandalism for when the car gets stolen or broken into or whatever.

They've also started sending newhires and upgrades to the Westin Park Central. I know they have a secure garage but there has been negative feedback on the distance and traffic during rush hour.

If you pull up the class rosters on SWALife you can look at boards and see how long the wait for UOE is. That is the best possible info as it varies. Of course, keep in mind that they don't take requests or give you any TGDOs, they own you until UOE is completed. Hopefully the next contract addresses this.

if you rent through Swalife enterprise has 40% off and the LDW is included. I never opted for it in the past but had three damages in the last year and they were all covered.

Just got done last week. They had us at the Embassy Market Center, which has devolved into a ****hole. Safe parking? I’d say no.

Plan four weeks. Have your study guide done before you go.

Download the SkyHop app if you don’t rent a car. They will pick you up on call.

People in our class started getting assigned UOE by the time we hit the LOFTs, most of us have it assigned with about a week off.

As you can see, varies by class.

I stayed at Embassy Suites Market Center - absolute crap hotel in desperate need of refurbishment.

I also had almost 3 weeks off between getting done with sim and UOE. A classmate of mine from initial who went just after me, had 3 days wait to UOE in the same base. Go figure. I think they're getting caught up with UOE's to be more in line with getting you through quick.

I drove my car and I didn't have problems, but I was always parking up front. Now, having said that... there was a new pickup truck sitting on cinderblocks in the parking lot out the back - no joke. If you bring a Miata, it should be OK - girlymobiles aren't really in much demand.

I would love to be back at the Westin, was there for new hire back in 2017 and didn’t mind the drive since the hotel is in a little nicer part of town

Thanks for all the answers, I guess I will wait and see what hotel I get before making a decision on bringing a car or not
