It isn't the opening I am worried about, it is the rapid growth.
I just don't like that they are staffing it the way they are when there is limited hiring.
...but when the rubber meets the road, a lot of those pilots with BNA bids may change their minds based on reality.

The "plan" is 425 in May, another ~100ish each in June and July, and then 30-50ish in August. The company has had several months to see who is bidding and Sutcliffe has said it's opening big because people are bidding it, which will avoid displacements.
We still have several new hire classes yet to bid, as well as a couple March & April classes to round out the hiring this year. (My math shows 127 hires to go to get to the 345 projected total). We have a glut of new hires in BWI and will presumably will have an even distribution of upgrades throughout the year which will be backfilled by new hires moving west.
Sutcliffe told the upgrade class he expects some pilots to change their bid if/when they see they're on the bottom of the list which is why August will be a much smaller vacancy in Bna. Either way there will be few if any displacements as well as the same (or fewer) new hires stuck in Bwi when the music stops.
Think about it, BNA is closer to every other base in the system than BWI is so any new hire forced to go there involuntarily is better off from a commuting standpoint.

A couple things worth mentioning...

Last night we were massively delayed on the west coast. Close to timing out and ops agent couldn’t pull the release at all due to DST change. Had to get dispatch to email it and do a manual W&B. Took off with 4 min to spare.

I didn't see that coming, but I also didn't see it being this big until they released the memo. They have opened one base and brought ATL into the system since I have been here and both were kept small.
May we live in interesting times. Hopefully the shrinkage in other bases doesn't kill too many hopes and dreams.
