thank god. For all the whining that goes on about abrogating seniority with the vacation changes, SWAPA sure seemed comfortable with it when it came to FO lines. Color me surprised.

To be fair, NH weren’t always given 2 months of trips after training. When I was new we bid for our base while still in training and they pulled our first trip(s) in OAK for sim/IOE and then we finished the hard line month.

Sometime over the last 8 yrs they changed it to what it is now….where they get a full month + the remainder of their training month. With how we fly Rsv’s there’s no need for that. No idea how BWI turned into a stomping ground for 150 NH/mo either.

When you compute your bidding % in a base should it be divided by the whole number in the base, or by the base (minus) paper bidders.

Example for those of us who are math challenged: If I am number 50 out of 100 in a base (50%), if there are 10 paper bidders above me, am I 44.4% (40/90), or am I 40% (40/100)?

Reason for the Q: I have bypassed upgrade for a while, and only willing to go at a certain %, but want to know how I should calculate that. Thanks!

Poopoo out.
how I understand it is you bid where you're at on the senority list minus number of paper bidders, so if you're 50 and have 10 paper bidders above you you bid 40 lines. That paper bidder may bid the same line as you but you get it and they get the pay for it.

Does anyone know if FO paper bidders will show up on the SWAPA SRC Individual Vacancy View report as ahead of you if they have a contingency bid for CA and are senior to you? I'm assuming that if they are out on medical they would be ineligible for upgrade and would remain on the FO seniority list. Just wondering if their contingency for CA would show up on that product.

I believe so as paper bidders aren't removed.

Can a paper bidder change base/seat? I don't see any prohibitation against that after a quick search of the contract. So they should count in the individaul vancancy view.

Of course they can. They can, and do, come back at any point.
