Didn't they make all the folks with CJO's right before the COVID shutdown reinterview?

Watch what they do, not what they say.
Again, are you new around here?

Agreed. VSP before furloughs. But I think since we halted hiring and the legacies while slowed down a little are still hiring a lot of pilots will leave so it will probably work itself out. But if SWA doesn't move an inch soon then I think this stoppage will go into 2025.

Anybody talking about furloughs or VSP, get real. This is a hiring pause waiting for something to happen. This isn't Covid, the Great Recession, or 9/11 where demand has jumped off a cliff. We are still upgrading for crying out loud, and I can tell you that we don't need the extra captains right now.
Don't take every grain of non-great news like it is some kind of death notice. It is a little dramatic. The aircraft will get here one way or another. Right now it is a wait and see and you and I have zero control over the process.

This thread is pretty funny.
It doesn't surprise me that they paused hiring. It's actually going to be much better for the FOs. I was a mid seniority FO when the max got grounded and we kept on hiring in the hopes that Boeing would pull a fast one and get it flying again soon. I can tell you from experience that it was very painful since there we were way overmanned on the FO side and the trip trading and open time market as well as elitt inventory suffered greatly as a result. I would tell captains about it and they had no idea what I was talking about because they weren't in the same predicament. There simply was zero premium flying and very little straight flying to be had. If you didn't fly your line, you probably weren't going to be able to trade into something else worth having.
I think the past few years haven't been too kind to Boeing and trust is pretty much gone at this point after pushing back the 7 about 10 times so far. SWA is in the unenviable position of needing airframes and not being able to get them. I am sure all options are on the table and pausing hiring during that time is the right thing to do.
What is NOT the right thing to do is to not honor your commitments that you made to those with CJOs but no class dates. They should have cut off applications and interviews and brought everybody on who has a CJO.

Agree. A lot of people made life adjustments because they thought they had a class. Like changing important dates, using vacation time. Whatever. Disappointing when the classes got pushed, but canceled a couple months after that. So glad I get to work the year with no vacation now. I know they do what they need to do, but it didn’t feel very “Southwest”
