I'm not busting any balls, because I'm far from infallible, but our ideas of "tiny errors" are way different.

“The Southwest pulling on to 29, just so you know there is a vehicle on the runway, and it is still closed,” adds another voice.

LGA was discussed as well in some form or another. I suspect we are going to see some more come out of it as well as other incidents.

Maybe this and the other incidences will lead the general public (and the airlines' HR departments) to finally realize that being a pilot is more complicated than pushing the autopilot button.

The voice on the radio sounded like the average Southwest pilot to me. Sounded irritated that someone questioned their actions. Probably had a long rant to the FO about east coast liberals closing runways when he needed to be rolling coal

Tiny errors eh?
A Private pilot certificate holder would get a suspension and/or a 44709 for this.
You know that much right?

Likely not, they would tell the FAA they were on the wrong frequency by mistake and that would likely be the end of the story.

You forgot the taking off from a closed runway and not reading the Notams part.

I think they read the Notam. They just got there early. Tower usually answers up a few minutes before they open. Had they used CTAF this would not have been a issue. Until some av geek who listens to radio coms picked up on it I am not even sure the FAA was going to look at it.

I must have fallen into this job by an accidental fluke or maybe I know someone important, but I make mistakes all the time. 99.9 percent of the time, someone says "hey, e6bpilot, you forgot x" and I am like "oh crap, thank you!", but sometimes one slips through the cracks. Granted, I have yet to make the internet news, but maybe someday....

Taxi errors, touching tips, running something or someone over, misreading or not reading a notam, landing on a taxiway....these are all things that happen in this business due to human error. Our ultimate goal is to minimize those errors, but humans are gonna human. Maybe these guys really did just let er rip and go tearing off down the runway without a single regard to anyone but themselves, but I highly doubt it. I think maybe nobody here knows exactly what happened and a few of us who have apparently never done anything wrong in their lives are judging pretty harshly.

Somewhere along the line, processes broke down. Let's fix them and do better next time instead of throwing spears.
