How does the logbook review is conducted?

Legacies have cut way back. Don't know about you but I only applied to the places that had bases where I live. A friend of mine in the pool (who was just turned down) lives in BNA and isn't moving. We have a BNA base, nobody else does. He flies corporate out of BNA and doesn't want to commute so he never applied anywhere else. Now he'll have to decide if he wants to reapply in this window, apply elsewhere and deal with a commute, or hope his current job stays available long term.

Mine was virtual. One pilot and one HR person. They went through the logbook form that you uploaded prior with all your hours. They ask you to confirm your hours so make sure you have a copy of the Form you uploaded. Then they ask if your training was part 141 or part 61, any failures, all those standard questions. Then they asked me one question about being a captain, I can't remember exactly what it was. It's basically a confirmation of your hours, failures, type ratings, and experience.

It may have changed a bit in the 10.5 yrs since I interviewed but basically they ask you ?'s about your logbook/hours. Recency of experience in the last 90 days/ 6 most/ 1 yr. How much PIC time? Any failed check rides (and then talk about those). Where are your type rides located (if you logged those)? Basically making sure that you didn't fluff your times in the app and that everything matches what you said you had. I've heard some people say they'll try and throw you off your game by asking you how many TPIC hours you got in the last 180 days or something but that wasn't my experience. They complimented me on having printed off my electronic logbook and making a spreadsheet with all the pertinent info on it. My review lasted like 10 min and the rest of the time we were laughing and making small talk.

I heard they place a great deal of emphasis on grammar 😘

I love this. We got one post saying I’m on the interview team, another one saying I have a blocked board and another saying I have a beard. Never had one before in my life.

You guys are awfully mad that I’m just stating the facts. Yes, it sucks and the company isn’t cool for doing that. Yes, it’s conditional, no class wasn’t starting next week and no, they never got a seniority number. Triggered much?

Darn right there is one thing we all collectively agree on. Your snake in the grass attitude towards fellow pilots in this industry will not be forgotten. You crapped on them when they were down and when they are being treated unfairly by the company. I seriously cannot think of anything more shameful than that. Ranks right up there with scabs.

Did the logbook review in 2022 and was similar to those mentioned above. I had flight engineer time in my logbook, which counted towards atp mins way back the day (hence why it was logged). Since there is no place for FE time on the SWA app, I didn’t include it. Once we cleared up why there was a disparity between logbook/application times, it was a breeze and super casual. Almost seemed like a formality when I went through 🤷‍♂️

Have they started interviewing yet? Sent out emails yet?

Who *exactly* did I crap on? Really. Go back and read my post. I said it’s called a CJO for a reason.

I will say I didn’t know some of these guys had actual *employee* numbers. That’s actually really ****ty by the company. I agree. But I never crapped on a pilot unless they were caught with additional checkride failures then to be believed initially.

With that said, if you had x about of failures and the company has data to say “nowadays that’s too many sorry” I kinda get that.

We are some of the highest paid pilots around, is it that bad to back track in how many failures you want? I don’t think so.

They sent out an email that the application is closing early tomorrow due to the amount of applications received.
