I think the plug in ATL was hired late 2023. I wouldn’t count on the base staying in its current form with the displacements we’ve been having, but my crystal ball is just a paper weight.

Southwest window open

So the application window is open. I have several questions about how to complete it. It’s says 5 years but that leaves out a lot of my work history. Do I put all flying jobs or not.

WN has historically been focused on following the rules. This is a minimalist application in my mind. I just followed what it asked of me. They will ask for EVERYTHING…once you get traction. It merely looks like a cursory review to make a quick decision with the vast amount of pilots applying. The two week window might find 5,000 or more applicants…for 300-600 positions. I think that number will significantly rise if the Max 7 gets certified… . It also appears that 4 year degrees are of value this go around… . Just my opinion… . A common theme of CJO holders that were cut don’t have the degree. The competition right now is rather high… . After WN came out of COVID I knew guys that didn’t get hired right away and gave up…only to find 6-12 months later they were very competitive with a degree and 1,000 part 91 Jet METPIC… . Everyone is starting to hire and 2026 will be a good year! The mins will go down quickly as the pool is drained… .

Probably says "minimum". But I would just put the 5 years. Always answer the question they ask. They will have all your hours and resume with previous jobs.

The only reason ATL is still a thing is because enough FAT folks are in positions of power to keep it alive and because it is a functional maintenance base.
I personally think it could go one of two ways. It will stay small and maybe even shrink more and just be an insignificant piece of the crew network or someone will finally make a decision to close it and move the maintenance function to somewhere like TPA or BNA.

As you and all of us know, it’s always impossible to predict how the future will go, but as of now, ATL manning was drastically cut about 10 months ago and we’ve significantly reduced our footprint there. I just checked our current domicile seniority list at ATL and it is definitely on the senior side of things, but not the most senior. Given that is a small base now and there are a lot of die-hards there, I suspect that getting based there would take a significant amount of time. I am not about to guess as to what that would be, but odds are it would be measured in years, not months.

MCO FO has been very junior for the past 2 years I’ve been here and BNA is moderately senior but doable as well. I would think both of these would be easy commutes for you.

Interesting that you should say that. BNA CPO recently mentioned undermanned maintenance personal at the base. Just had a maintenance guy commuting to west coast out of BNA pretty upset that more maintenance is needed in BNA but they aren’t opening positions for it. Hmmmm

You need to get to Delta.

Apply to both. If you get Southwest first, working at Southwest will make you very competitive for Delta.

Poolie here that just got the call that I was no longer eligible for SWAs changing criteria. No information beyond that. The only thing I can think is that my 12 month time was low because I had a non-flying deployment at the end of last year.

Mil chief of Stan/Eval. 4200TT 1700TPIC.

Have to wait 12 months before I can reapply missing the hiring wave that’s about to happen. I’m a little speechless if I’m being honest.

They're rejecting the poolies after 2 years

I have over 1000 pic 121 and after 2 weeks of waiting post logbook review I got the rejection letter. They said my application was no longer competitive. Zero failures and college degree. You're probably going to get rejected unfortunately. Sucks that they lied to us and told us we'd have a job waiting in the pool and then rejected us afterwards.
