Is anyone really surprised by SWA lack of keeping its word?

I think this is probably the answer. When all these folks went through a couple of years ago, airlines were hiring zero TPIC pilots with wet ATPs. Now, it's my opinion that the market has constricted substantially in terms of what airlines are looking for, or at least what we are looking for in off-the-street hires. I disagree with it, but with only 140 slots, it lets them be very picky.

I understand most people probably don't, won't, wouldn't, couldn't make that same decision and threaten to just walk out of that job. I'd made that decision a decade prior (never go to a checked event you aren't fully confident in passing) and thankfully they gave me a study day instead of firing me. |

Totally agree. This is my only problem with it. I can get the guy who had a subsequent 121 failure, but someone who already got hired and has been clean since? That's grade a BS. You can't keep your promise to one group of people (225) and not another.

Yep. Was in the pool. Now I'm not.
Been flying 121. Been at the same regional. Upgraded to CA last year and added a new type. 5000 TT, 1500ish multi turbine, 500 TPIC. No degree and one checkride bust (ILOE) Not sure which of those stats are the new deal breaker, but I didn't make it to the logbook review. After updating my times, I got the call a few days later that I wasn't moving forward. I suspect it's the LOE unsat, but I didn't get the chance to talk about it, so I'm not sure. No feedback was given. The kick is that I have to wait a year from now (not 12/'23 when I actually interviewed) to reapply. So if hiring kicks off for real in January, I can't apply then, even though it will have been over 2 years since I last applied. I suppose that if I'm not competitive now, I won't be competitive 4 months from now anyway. While not getting the job sucked, at least I currently have a 121 job that pays pretty well and that I don't dislike. There are lots of people in a much worse situation than me. WN is still a goal of mine, so I'll just keep making them tell me no every 12 months... |

reading this makes me reconsidering applying to this company if this is how they’re evaluating the poolies.
Got a buddy who did his Logbook review and also said it felt like an interview again. Was told he’d hear back in a few days. If he doesn’t get a class I’ll be ****ed. He was in the March class and got moved to April because they filled March with 225 people. Then they cancelled every class after. He lives around BNA so it’s not like he can drive to work at another airline. Anyone know who’s running the hiring dept now? |

Unless you did something that makes you unemployable the CJO should be honored, or they should have just flushed the pool. |
