Retirements (roughly 300 for 2015-16) and increase average vacation weeks will account for much of that hiring. Increased aircraft utilization will account for some more of it as well.

The word through the grapevine is that 2016 will be a big year for international expansion (HOU & FLL international terminals), and so that's probably where the 600 for 2016 forecast is coming from.

I keep hearing rumors of redeye flying. That would add a good number too.

Interesting, because I believe at a message to the field Gary claimed red eyes were not profitable. Maybe the economics have changed, but if a market is not 15 roic; we won't do it.

Geez. Tell JetBlue they're not profitable. That's 30% of their flying.

I know at least 6 pilots with no 4 year degree flying for SWA.

Redeye yields tend to be lower but load factors can be very high. It also repositions the aircraft to the East Coast which is an important factor sometimes.

I can't see us not doing them. Everyone else does. Aircraft utilization baby!

Really WM?

I can't see "us" not doing them. Which is it WM? "Us" or "You guys!" Are you even remotely "all" in? Your future is tied to this place whether you like it or not. Good luck with your decisions.

The Oscar

BTW, I agree with you. Just don't ever expect me to do red eyes. Ain't happening.

Aw, such a shame Oscar. I don't mind doing them. Even less chance then of us flying together. Darn....

Yeah WM. I wouldn't even do them for 1.5....... Now 2.0 ..........depends. Probably not though. I don't live in that world. I would probably be even less pleasant!
