When they are able to talk Boeing into re-engineering the cockpit with mid 1980s technology.

Mid 80s? How about mid 60s for that %^*+ing overhead panel.

God I hope so. Lost plenty of seniority and my seat with the last one.

I can see us getting -900ERs MAXs though. About the same range as the -800 and would seat close to 200 in SWA config.

As long as we are whining about the 737... (Just for fun) How about a friggan bell or a light when it goes from VNAV path to speed? Or an EICAS? (Do away with the archaic 'recall' switch/light and the Easter egg hunt for the light) Or automatic bus switching? Or an air management system? Ice detection? Option to choose between dual cue and single cue flight director? Vertical-direct-to (geometric VNAV)? The airplane is a hybrid. It wants to be capable of advanced VNAV but lacks the managed flight capability of the Airbus. Either way, they're at least two generations behind the latest avionics technology and it looks as though they're not taking advantage of the new screen real estate on the max. Instead choosing to just duplicate the NG displays.

........and you know exactly whom to blame for that, don't you? Hint....you work for them. Btw, to go from carrots to fiddle sticks FDs, apparently you just flip a swx in the E&E bay, and I'm hearing that we are indeed going with the fiddle sticks on the MAX.

I've heard that too. I personally prefer dual cue, but I can't help but think that this is the kind of change that's really going to cause a lot of consternation among the more... Let's say "seasoned" pilots. Not sure that particular change is worth the 50 page thread on the forums it's likely to generate.
