and what step are you on in your recovery from your southwest kool-aid addiction? Or do you have yet to hit rock bottom?

I cannot believe this discussion is again upon us.

TS, I am glad you are happy where you are in your career. Just so you know, there are many at the lowly SWA that are happy too. I have convinced myself that I can be content where I am just as it sounds you have.

Your obsession and desire to stir things up is (according to my wife the psychologist) is a disorder. I suffer from the same thing according to her.

Just so everyone knows, I never applied at DAL. TS, never applied at SWA. In the end does anyone really give a ........! I will however, if need be compare my career to his at any time. I feel I have been lucky and fortunate. My QOL and happiness is what it is. I don't feel it necessary to constantly berate those at DAL who made a different decision than I did. He however has 8000 posts that anyone can read if they have the time. I will tell you that the posts that I have read wrt to SWA would in fact indicate ..................Envy!

Just stating the obvious!

PD,

Having consumed the "kool-aid" for many years.... I can tell you it has tasted good so far. How is that stuff they are passing around at DAL?

Sounds like it alternates between kool-aid and p........... Hope it all tastes good.

Well I don't know about the kool-aid but our SVP is a better story teller than Dr Suess. We are a shrinking pilot group. Hopefully those of us furloughed can work at our fancy "new" oil refinery. Commuting to Philly will be about as bad as NYC.

It's a lovely story, and you tell it so well.
BP - I say this with as much brotherly love as I can muster for a future fellow employee: Why do you continue to berate fellow employees? Is that what Gary Kelly told you to do when you went through indoc? I suspect not ...

And, for the record, I am hopeful that other SWA pilots who come on this forum have already sent PMs to BP to suggest that he tone down the rhetoric -- if your goal is to preserve the Southwest Culture, then BP's words are unhelpful to that end.

I suspect that many SWA pilots put in apps at DAL, FedEx, UPS, United .... does that mean they couldn't make the grade at those other airlines? Or does it means they went where they got hired? Or does it mean they got hired at multiple places and made a choice? Or does it mean they got hired at the only place that would take them?

Probably a different answer for every SWA pilot, just as it is for pilots at every airline.

If you check with the SWA front office, you will find that I filed an application with SWA at the time when I was retiring from USAF. I also filed applications with every other airline that was accepting them at the time. Why? Because I wanted a job!!! That's what pilots do. BP, if your own awesomeness had failed you on interview day at SWA, would you have given up your flying career? Or would you have gone with the airline(s) that hired you?

As for me, given an option, I would have preferred to work for a stand-alone Airtran for the remainder of my career. That is not going to happen, and for some strange reason I was never consulted when the decision was made to make the deal with SWA.

So, now I will be working for SWA, so I choose to be as happy as I can about it and try my best to do a good job -- it all falls under the heading of "stuff I can't control", so I have let it go.
