From: DOWNGRADE COMPLETE: Thanks Gary. Thanks SWAPA.
This is why airline contracts drag out 4 years past the amendable date. Some pilots have no self worth when they manage 1.5 billion in liabilities per flight. Some pilots sleep in the crew room and some will fly all day without food. Some think it's ok to fly 400 hours more a year than their peers for the same money.

Bingo your bingo. Without ambition and desire to improve one's station in life, we'd all still be living in caves and rubbing sticks together. Keep up the self deprecation, Neanderthals.

I'd bet they're wildly outnumbered now. Between civilian newhires and AirTran folks there are plenty who know what benefits and quality of life are offered by the majors (and even a few regionals), that it's a lot harder to defend the way things are here.

Compared to an entry level regional, yeah, we're doing pretty well, overall.
Thanks to the largesse on the part of OSWApA and the pilot group over the last few decades, much of our contract is more closely comparable to the regionals or ULCCs (and in many ways, inferior) vs. our peers at other major airlines.
We are, when you count inflation and the paltry, sub COL "raises" we've gotten, making less than we were a decade ago.
We haven't even had a sub COL raise in the 5 years since the contract became amendable, unless you count the 0% 2012 "raise" that was so shrewdly "negotiated" for by SWApA, in exchange for the privilege of flying longer duty days for the same or less pay in the 800 and a year extension to the current, concessionary contract. A true WIN!/WIN! (for the company).

My last employer told me that I was lucky to have a job and that there were hundreds of pilots who wanted my job. I gave him the opportunity to fill it with someone else. I assume we are both much happier.
