Default Disposal of 1000 HR turbine PIC

When will Southwest not require 1000 HR Turbine PIC, if ever, to apply?

Personally, I think they should raise it to 2,000. 2,021 to be more precise.

Does anyone know how to fill out the southwest/careers application for a first officer position? I have filled out the pilot credentials portion but cannot seem to find the other application. Thanks in advance.

Go here: https://careers-southwest.icims.com/jobs

Then under "Category", you'll want to select 'Flight Ops/Pilots'. There weren't any positions when I just looked, so they may have closed applications until the next round. It will say First Officer if applications are open.

Thanks that's what I figured, i just didn't see any positions and was a little worried that I was doing something wrong. Does anyone know when the next round is?

I've had my app in for awhile now, and I'm having a hard time being patient. Do I have a shot at getting hired straight to SWA, or should I think about a stepping stone to get there?? Not sure I can handle first year pay at a lot of the LCC"s. I'm going to start hitting the job fairs and hopefully that will help too. Thoughts/advice??

Civilian (no 121 experience) 4500TT, 2000+TPIC, some recent international experience in a Global. Mediocre GPA, Bachelors aviation degree, no checkride busts or dui's. I have nothing in my history that looks bad, but I feel like I'm a dime a dozen right now. Thoughts? Be patient? Make a stepping stone move?

You've probably identified the problem with your feeling that your application hasn't broken out yet.

Internal recs and Job fairs will help, so would 121 time (since it's an additional checked box on the application). I know a lot of guys say the type isn't worth it now but, those are also the guys that got hired on because they had the type, and I've also been told that currently the type rating gets the most points of any box checked on the application. Depending on how patient you can be, you could always start with the cheapest options first and expand from there.

It will be interesting to see if the new SWA TA increases applicants and retention amongst new hires.

I'd imagine that new hires quitting were probably going to quit anyway as soon as their top choice called. I know people that left Delta and United to come here as we had a base where they lived and the others didn't.

In today's environment people will go to the first place that calls and if that's not where they want to retire, they'll shop around until something that suits them better comes along.
