You’re an imbecile if you don’t think history will repeat itself. The industry is cyclical, the executives that run it are not even remotely creative. Even if this industry is still in a good condition 5 years from now, you’ll still be stuck bargaining past the amendable date for 2-3 years, exactly because they got a bargain on this contract. It will be no better than the set of conditions you’re under now, except in the year 2025 or 2026. For those who make it to Spirit around the age of 33 and plan to retire at age 65, 8 years under the next contract will be 25% of your entire career. I wouldn’t be in a huge hurry to start that 8 year clock on a painful “fly it and grieve it” contract. Whackmaster is right, don’t sacrifice your leverage. You guys have waited too long to settle now. You have my support, I’ll be at your next picket!

However, I won't be voting to appease you. I'll be doing what's best, in my opinion, for me and my career. That's why it's called voting and everyone has the ability to cast theirs. Should the TA fail, so be it. On to another X amount of time for the next one (most likely another year or more). If it passes, so be it. On to the clock starting for the next bargaining cycle.

You will likely be looking at a stagnate airline a few years after signing as flying gets transfered to a flag carrier of convenience for our international stuff and regional for most of our domesric stuff. At least thats what I get from just the first section of the TA.

Regardless, I trust the NC got as much as they could but I will perform my due diligence reading and learning what I can before the vote closes. As it stands now, I'm still in the yes camp...doesn't mean that won't change. But the pragmatist in me says this is good enough (far from great though) and that outweighs the negative, emotional response some are vocal about here.

This was the take at Delta over our failed TA in 2015 which was agressively sold by the then-MEC with the letters "PEB" being repeated.
However, when your membership, for the first time in its history, votes down a TA 2:1, the NC (albeit a new one) gets a verifiable and valid basis to tell the company, "Nope, Nope, Nope...that provision/amount isn't going to pass." The question then becomes, how long does the company want to carry the old agreement forward?
Good luck!

Agreed. Get as much as you can now and work to tweak in the future. Some valid points are being made on both sides of the Yes/ No discussion. I'm looking forward to the roadshows and the All Pilot Call later this week for clarification on many of the areas that appear suspect.
