Spirit is going to take all the MD-80s everyone else is retiring, you heard it here first.

Yes, might work if they are planning bigger wing, still don't like the boarding part...

The A322 would have a much larger wing. Thrust from the engine would be much more thrust. The wheel struts would be a lot taller. The A322 would have all the issues of the A321 fixed. It would be like a 757 but better.

Green Giant 05-28-2018 06:27 AM

Think the size would between the 757-200 and 757-300.

Buy 2 get one free is the current deal. They want us to swing to all 737. Airbus has already done their song and dance, we have orders now that go to 176 airframes. A200's? is what they are calling the C series now. ERJ190 Super Heavy? Spirit is currently crunching numbers! Stand by for the order. Ted said it's coming. He also clearly pointed out people get fired for getting this one wrong!

Interesting. Wouldn’t surprise me about Boeing. Perhaps we’ll hear something at Farnborough in July. No doubt Spirit will want new airplanes to maintain its high growth rate and to serve smaller markets...

Super EZ E 05-28-2018 08:07 PM

Ted said we picked up 7 more airframes (A320) that came available on the preowned market. I could be mistaken but I thought he said 127 airframes by the of end of 2018. Can someone double check the fleet plan? I could be mistaken...

The 7 airframes that "came off the preowned market" were Spirit's NEO's slots that came open when we switched our 4Q 2018/ 1Q/2Q 2019 NEO orders to CEOs in April 2017.

If you have a copy of the fleet plan in 2017, you'll see we were supposed to resume delivery of NEOs in 2018 (55 total) When we switched from NEOs to CEOs, our final CEO airframe count went up (55 to 62) and NEO airframe count went down (55 to 48).

Now we are back up to 55 NEO airframes and kept the 7 extra CEO airframes.

Apparently Boeing, Airbus and Bombardier meet with the company few weeks ago. Boeing is offering buy 2 get 1 free, was confirmed by management. Highly doubt Spirit will pass on that deal....but they also could be playing Airbus.

But two get one free huh? I’m not saying you’re wrong but just seems a bit ridiculous that Boeing is now using the same sales tactics as a discount shoe store.

Or, a more reasonable way to look at it is that Boeing is offering 737’s at 2/3’s of sticker price for the right order (read going all Boeing). Manufacturers offer deep discounts on planes all the time.

2/3’s deep? I don’t know. But Boeing might be willing to make that kind of deal on the first 50-100 options in order to secure a total order of 3-400 planes over the next decade plus.

Didn't Boeing recently sell UAL 737's at roughly $20 million a copy? You can't get a decent biz jet for that amount.

I have no idea, but a Lear 75 sells at about $14M a copy.

ropestart 06-07-2018 09:59 AM

According to upper management, this was the case. Kinda hard to believe.

Duck anti-union Boeing and their antique POS 73. We're not paid enough to fly that cramped hot hunk of shot around.

Some are more akin to tripods and that third kick will help with road rash.

Allegedly

I totally agree with you but I would personally welcome any new AC order as long as it's a mainline airplane. also I imagine if you're a CA on the bus now you wouldn't have to fly the thing anyways. All that said, all this speculation without any proof is just internet noise in the first place.

Do you really think management is going to “confirm” anything to you or me? I mean, the JPWG couldn’t even comment on the PBS RFPs until a contract was signed. You’re talking about a deal worth hundreds of millions. And you really think we’ll be privy to any of it? Please...

It’s not a secret man! Spirit needs another order ASAP. Up to you what to believe... mister CEO himself is coming around all the bases. Ask for yourself.

It’s not a secret that Spirit has stated publicly that they’d like to grow and are considering options, options that include a fleet expansion. That’s it. If you think upper management is really going to disclose to you any details of an RFP, one that could very well define their careers and those on the other side of the table...well, you’re just gullible. If you want the winning lottery numbers too maybe ask Ted on one of his visits since he’s on a roll. I haven’t been to a crew room in months and see no reason to break the streak.

Valid points you make. Hardly gullible though, but I get it. We will just wait and see.

Dude, if you’re buying off on any of the yellow-and-black streamers and high five propaganda...yes, that’s gullible. But glad you see the err in your ways. Now grab me some extra sani-wipes and stay the heck away from crew rooms.

Pilot only sleep rooms too.

Pilots and FA's need separate crew rooms and separate sleep rooms. Trying to sleep while having to listen to gosup sucks!

Where do you get your sani-coms? If they were supplied in the planes like we were told a few months ago I probably wouldn’t go. It’s also nice to have a place out of the terminal area to wait out a lengthy delay or a sit.

Commuters use them a lot though

The sleep rooms actually are pilot only. I’ve been asking for this section of the CBA to be enforced but I tend to not get anywhere.

It’s always nice to see FA’s in pajamas in the ord crew room.

Pilot only? How come 5-6 flight attendants give me a dirty look every time I walk into the sleep room between flights?

b. Properly heated and ventilated.

c. Adequate reclining seating provided.

d. Quiet.

e. Dimly lit.

2. If there is a dispute as to whether a particular crew rest facility meets the minimum standards set forth above, it shall be resolved by final and binding arbitration on an expedited basis directly before the System Board of Adjustment sitting with a neutral member, as the arbitration forum. The dispute shall be heard expeditiously no later than 20 days following the submission to the System Board and decided expeditiously no later than 40 days after submission, unless the parties agree otherwise in writing. The parties agree to abide by any arbitration award that is issued.

how many NCCs have you filed?

Was told it was being withdrawn because I was not on duty (commute day). There were no chairs available because they were filled with FAs. This was a couple years ago and I haven’t had an instance where I wanted to use the sleep room on a sit and it wasn’t available.

Long and short is it shouldn’t matter. There should be. Sign that says pilots only.

The ord room most likely had bugs because the FAs eat in there and leave their trash everywhere.
