Certainly logical. I’ve just heard this hypothesis a few times now and there doesn’t seem much to back it up. In today’s corporate America most CEOs are short term and manage for the quarter. It’s all about Me me me. Seems odd to negotiate a big order and let your successor have all the glory.

 

I agree....Ted has been leading this airline in most aspects for a while now, behind the scenes and in front. The conference calls are much more about Ted vs Bob. Investors aren’t much interested in what Bob “would” do if he were still at the helm going forward, as they are with Ted on what he “will” do.

More likely they are still finalizing an order or securing the best financing for the order.

 

With 55 more deliveries and a pending order (what part of "we are talking to all manufacturers" about a future order is hard to comprehend?), upgrades will continue like business as usual. It slows down for a bit to figure out MCO staffing and FLL reduction and everyone is up in arms about it.
Anyone who has been in this industry long enough knows that everything happens in waves. 12 more deliveries are about to hit the fleet in the next 4 months. I am sure that will cause the number of upgrades to pick back up for a bit.

 

The most common refrain has been that any new order would be after Jan 1st. Does this coincide with new CEO / Pres., could be.

Staffing for 2019 has lately been @420 new hires and @200 CUG.

I believe PBS co bid will start in March, with full PBS by summer. Anyone want to guess what PBS will do to staffing and reduction in reserve numbers?

 

I can think of one good reaso for Bob to want Ted to be successful: stock options.

 

With the interim transition and reserve language we have now I doubt it will be that much more efficient with PBS.

I wouldn’t be worried about upgrade times anymore.

I have been told from multiple sources that with the recent Lion Air 737 Max order cancellation (see link on bottom) Boeing is under even more pressure to give us a deal more that what was mentioned before. And with that Spirit had already placed the order for some of (or all) Lion Air’s cancellations and like others have said it will be anncouned by our new CEO after the new year. The other advantage that Spirit had with picking up these orders from where Lion Air left off is that we don’t have to wait long to start taking the MAX’s since they have been in the queue for a while. Also it’s part of Spirits model to get the newer fuel efficient planes (just like our NEO’s)

I was also told by someone in the training department that we will actually be getting out first sim for it 2Q19. When I say getting our first sim, I’m sure it’s like what we are doing with AFG.
