Dropped the ball? Far from. You don't waste negotiating capital on people who aren't on property. In exchange for higher first year pay, the association will seek improvements in the contract that will help pilots who are on property and paying dues.

I completely disagree. I want to fly with the best and brightest. I want my family to fly on planes with the best and brightest. I want to sit next to guys that aren’t other companies’ left overs

I agree with you. It’s nice to be picky because of the massive amount of apps vs. taking anyone with a pulse and a medical.

No. They’re not.

That’s true and a lot of them don’t want to take the paycut to $56 with $1750/mo for two months with no health insurance. And quite honestly I don’t blame them. We as group dropped the ball on new hire pay and benefits. I hear already in this big hiring push we are starting to get some “interesting” folks just like right before the contract.

First year pay everywhere else except frontier is about $90 with healthcare and 15-16% retirement contribution from day one.

I interview soon.. But the pay cut is really a problem for me.. I would have to sell my place and move out of state to still be poor supporting my small family..

i sold my house, shut off my cable and wifi, and lived as cheaply as possible for a year, yes it hurt but me and my family are far far better off now. its a short term sacrifice. year 2 i made same $ i did as an RJ ca, every year since ive made more. now i make more tripple what i made as an rj ca

I’d also would like candidates that also have some self worth aren’t just happy to be here because it’s the only place they could get on and it’s better than a regional or better than xyz foreign carrier or better than 36th street cargo in Miami. A solid handle on the English language would be nice too so we don’t sound like Mesa when we show up in LAX or ATL.

Not saying everyone we got right before the contract or now when we need to fill lots of classes is like this but our new hire package certainly doesn’t get 60 a month of the best.

I start 9/23

House is up for sale, boat is up for sale, and my year old truck is for sale. Small sacrifice to have Job security and great retirement in my book.

Small family here wife 3 year old and a dog.

Thankfully I was able to save some cash from the Corporate world and will help us through the first year.

That's great man, yeah, I'm with ya.. I just hope I can make all the puzzle pieces fit in order to head for class. Couldn't start until my place gets sold for sure. Not to get too far ahead of myself, it's not like I got a CJO lol.
