I got TBNT. While everyone was qualified I was very shocked by the low experience levels. I don't know if this is a Spirit strategy or if this is representative of who they have applying so I'd encourage all low timers to put their app in.
If you don’t mind me asking, when did you interview? Aug 7? |

I agree that first year pay is rough but would you say the same things in regards to first year pay about Hawaiian or UPS , both Lower than Spirit?

Abso-friggin-lutely. They are similarly disgraceful. And the problem is the union and it’s members, not management. They have demonstrated the ability to extract decent money from management in those contracts. And at the same time they have demonstrated they really don’t give a $h|t about their own new hires.

Dropped the ball? Far from. You don't waste negotiating capital on people who aren't on property. If the pay is preventing the company from getting quality candidates they will become very eager to go back to the negotiating table. In exchange for higher first year pay, the association will seek improvements in the contract that will help pilots who are on property and paying dues.
That’s raising FUPME to a new level. |
I never quite understood from the old old contract to the old the first year pay went from $40 an hour to $38.50. That was always a head scratcher. That being said I would have killed for $57 when I was at $38.50.

certainly doesn’t get 60 a month of the best. Management loves the “its better than my regional” philosophy. It’s what got us our stellar (sarcastic) new contract where on reserve we lost all qol. The more people they hire with this philosophy the more the bar is lowered every time come contract negotiations. I also agree that we will start struggling to find new hires again, unless other airlines stop hiring completely. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

It’s obvious some of these people don’t give the northerly end of a southbound rat about their fellow pilots. He’s not only NOT looking after the most underpaid people in the pilot group, he wants to hold ALLOWING MANAGEMENT TO RAISE NEWBIE pay hostage to higher pay for himself. That’s raising FUPME to a new level. They didn't drop the ball, they got the largest percentage raise in ALPA history, including a significant first year pay bump. |
