Because it stands out from the rest of the pack. People will say, who’s that bright yellow plane? Gets people talking about spirit.

So in the interview, they actually ask what we think when we see a big yellow airplane. Is their a back story to yellow? is it a color that Spirit just goes with in their branding? What is the correlation between Spirit and yellow?

Story told by JB about how the color was chosen: "We got together in a board room with a bunch of different models sporting different paint jobs. This yellow one was really the oddball out of all of them. After going back and forth on the good and bad of each for nearly an hour someone said, 'Okay. On the count of three everyone point to the one you like the most.' Every single person pointed at the yellow one! And that's how the paint job was chosen."
The yellow paint, like it or leave it, is a huge advertisement. Most ramps are a sea of red, white, and blue. Yellow airplanes stick out and people remember the name by the color. We spend almost nothing on advertisement. A Facebook account manager and that's about it. |

When’s the last time you saw a tv ad for Spirit?
Technically, if you think about it Quagmire flies for Spirit Airlines. Peter said so at the end of one particular episode. |
And on Jimmy Fallon.

I’ll never own a yellow car, or a Miata for that matter...
But, yellow on a airplane, somehow works! |
Sorry for the slight thread drift guys, but I have a question which I didn't think it warranted a new post.
I am in the position where I'm very unattached to my location and can choose to live anywhere I want for the long term. Currently in ORD but I don't want to buy property in Chicago. Would it be dumb to choose to commute in exchange for a place I like? In the interview they explained the X and Y list for open time pickups. Is it possible to still be able to make some extra money on the Y list in a heavily serviced destination? Would you say that I am crazy for even considering the idea of choosing to commute? |
Trevor Noah offers us the occasional free advertisement, and it’s awesome.
